I have loved her music since the 1st time i heard I love the night life. It's ashame that song judged her entire album. Every song is a great, great winner. I had the original record recorded on tape and then disk. i have given every one of them to appreciative fans. Her album is a hit at my bar. It's played frequently. I also got her second record album and I think the third and final record. I lost those. what ever happend to her - the last i could find out, she was in San Franciso - that was about 20 years ago.

Great Disco from an outstanding voiced singer,

Alicia had only one real hit with I LOVE THE NIGHTLIFE and one minor hit with BODY HEAT. This collection features all the songs previously issued on her self-named debut album. I have this one on LP and I licked it very much especially for the two mentioned and the outstanding IN THE NAME OF LOVE, both well sung and great constructed... Alicia is one example for how great Disco was...

Masterpiece collection of songs from 1978! Only the title track is disco, the rest are sweet blues. Still sounds great after all these years. Now how about putting Alicia's other albums on cd?

I love her voice,

I think she has one of the best voices to sing the blues (no it's not a disco-disco album). The last 2 songs 9. Diamond In The Rough 10. Broken woman are 2 outstanding recordings that are more blues than disco--- She has a unique quality that is unforgettable and that's why this album is still around--- her voice is haunting! Where is she now? She should be singing the blues.... I guess she really got the blues after the bad reviews she got :-)

I had this on Polydor vinyl way back in the day. Played it to death [literally, the vinyl was worn out and was unplayable for the most part] Saw this on Amazon, got it and was transported back in time to quality disco heaven. The sound production is fantastic, and even if it's just for the title track [but Bridges has an amazing voice and well worth getting to know on the other tracks] this is worth buying. If you remember it first time round you won't be disappointed this time round:)

More Than I Love The Night Life,

Yes, I Love The Night Life is an excellent song with catchy hooks, good lyrics, and a stunning disco beat. However, an open minded listener will realize that there are some other good tunes on this record. And its not all disco.City Rhythm, Diamond In The Rough, and Body Heat are solid rock n roll numbers. Broken Woman is a stunning blues tune with good piano. The other tunes are certainly tolerable. Maybe this record is not an all time classic. But the lead single sure is and the other tunes are good enough to warrant a three star rating.

Painful,

Eegads! An entire album by this one hit wonder from 20 years is still in print? It isn't just that that one hit ("I Love The Nightlife") is a bad song (and it is REALLY bad) but that Bridges singing is just horrid. In fact it is some of the worst singing ever recorded. A fork being scrapped across a blackboard makes a more pleasant noise than this. Avoid at ALL costs.
