3.0 out of 5 stars An oversized board book with nice drawings
But I think it would have been enough for each animal mother to simply explain (in author Tafuri's sweet, organic way) why she loves her baby. It seems less necessary to reinforce the anxiety--fans of the book would term it curiosity--of those baby animals as they ask again and again, "Do you love me?" My concern is that children will assume they, too, must continually...

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, comforting reading, February 5, 1999
This review is from: I Love You, Little One (Hardcover)
My six year old daughter and five year son both love this book and have worked together to decide who gets to recite which lines from memory. My son recites "Forever and ever and always," as he kisses the baby animals on each page. No matter what age, all children delight in hearing that they are loved and mine are no exception. Each time we finish the book, they turn to me with eyes sparkling and ask, "Do you love me, Mama?" and I try to compose an answer similar to the ones in the book. It's really a pleasure to read this book together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forever, and ever, and always, June 4, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: I Love You, Little One (Board book)
I love reading this book to my daughter. The storyline is excellent along with the illustrations. We love seeing all of the baby animals asking their mommy's if they love them. It's wonderful to see how they relate their responses to their baby's to where they live with how much they love them. For example, when the baby rabbit asks his mother if she loves him and her response is, "Yes, little one, I love you as the earth loves you, cozy and snug around you, giving you a warm place to sleep. I love you as the earth loves you, forever and ever and always." It is wonderful to see how the book reinforces that you will be loved forever and ever and always. I look forward to reading this book to my daughter for many years to come. This is a must have for any child, mother or grandmother.

One of Nancy Tufari's best books. The beautiful illustrations capture the reader. The word usage is great. I would recommend this book to any child. This story is one of my son's favorites. Thank you for the wonderful stories and illustrations Mrs. Tufari. C.G. and Z. G. Florida

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartwarming Book, September 8, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: I Love You, Little One (Board book)
Within 2 weeks of reading this book, my daughter knows the catch phrase, I love you forever, and ever, and always. It is heartwarming to have her sit in your lap and read along about the "wild creatures" and their offspring. I really enjoy this book especially because my daughter calls me Mama, and there aren't many books that refer to the mother by that term! So, it's especially dear to me!

A wonderful book. Why not ask " Mama, do you love me"? Everyone needs to be reassured of love, it is a natural human trait and to hear the little animals asking their mothers and the original answers is truly sweet. My 2 year old loves this book. The illustrations are fantastic and on some pages there are tiny little animals on the page too like a snail or lizard and my son loves to point these out to me. I recommend this book heartily. It seems to be under appreciated. A true gem.

3.0 out of 5 stars An oversized board book with nice drawings, March 13, 2010
This review is from: I Love You, Little One (Board book)
But I think it would have been enough for each animal mother to simply explain (in author Tafuri's sweet, organic way) why she loves her baby. It seems less necessary to reinforce the anxiety--fans of the book would term it curiosity--of those baby animals as they ask again and again, "Do you love me?" My concern is that children will assume they, too, must continually ask this of their parents, when in fact it should be hard-wired and understood at the most basic level.

This is an unusual board book. It is both large format (7 by 6 inches) and also quite long (30 pages). The drawings of the animals and nature are finely rendered, not so much for the humans at the very end.

Ultimately, I prefer Guess How Much I Love You, though that is not without its detractors, either.

This book is awesome, I read it to my son every night at bed time. It's so tender, speaks of the love a Mother has for her baby. The pictures are gorgeous, and the words are a lullaby of sorts.

I read this book almost every night to my 7 week old daughter ... . I bought it from the bookstore and it is a favorite. The book is very melodic when read aloud and lulls my littleone to sleep. What a wonderful book!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Bedtime Must Have, October 9, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: I Love You, Little One (Board book)
Our daughter has loved this book since the very first time we read it to her when she was about 10 months. It is a last-thing-at-night ritual now and she won't let us miss it. She even "reads" it to her dollies and stuffed animals in her crib. The gentle story and charming illustrations are what make this book so special. It makes a super baby shower gift, too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful story, every time we read it!, October 26, 2008

This review is from: I Love You, Little One (Board book)
I've been reading this book to my son since he was about 3 months old and he absolutely loves it! He never gets tired of hearing it. He's now 12 months old and still absolutely LOVES this story. We've read it so often I have it memorized and usually read it to him without the book in hand.

No matter how upset he is to be in his car seat, or how badly his teeth hurt from teething, he immediately stops his fussing when I start to recite the story. It's recently become our bedtime story. The way its written, the words just flow well and it's very soothing. He especially loves it when I use different funny voices to play the character in each scenario: Mama and Baby (deer, duck, rabbit, mouse, bear, owl, and finally human). Each baby asks Mama "Do you love me, Mama?" and each Mama responds about the wonderful ways they love their "little one".

Even though we don't usually look at the book as I go through the story, the illustrations are wonderful and the coloring natural. When we do use the book he really seems to enjoy the scenes and we talk about the other little animals that are scattered throughout the story.

I can't say enough good things about this book. I'm SO glad we found it!
