5.0 out of 5 stars Cherokee
This CD was so down to earth. I couldn't understand why it didn't get more air play. This is one of my favorites. If you ever get a chance to buy it, really listen, you'll enjoy.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 Stars - Nice Jazzy CD for your Collection
I picked this CD up based on Amazon recommendations. It's definitely a CD worth checking out. It's a nice addition to my collection. I couldn't personally give it more stars for a couple of reasons; (1) she can sing, but her voice isn't necessarily "spectacular", and (2) the songs are good, but not many of them would I consider "GREAT".

5.0 out of 5 stars I love you...Cherokee!, May 18, 2000

From the moment I first saw her on BET, I had to buy her album, but the video's song "ohh...wee...wee" was actually the weakest song on the album. As I listened I couldn't believe how I felt like I was in the room with her as she sang to a crowd. It's not often that the song released is the weak one, showing just how strong of an album it is. I knew I had to tell everyone about this album. I've actually bought two copies, one for home, and one for the car. If there is one disapointment, it was that she wasn't even nominated for best new artist. One thing is certain, she is the most underrated artist out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars This disk is a brain massage..., June 2, 1999
This review is from: I Love You Me (Audio CD)
About a week or so ago, I happened to be watching BET (Black Entertainment Television). I was in a terribly foul mood. There just happened to be this exquisitly captivating creature dancing on stage and dropping soulful vibes on every subject from her vision of her own death to how she gained strength from an abusive relationship. I was seduced in every sense of the word. I bought the CD the next day. I've been listening to the CD for a week now and have yet to grow tired of it. Cherokee is life in sound and motion. She's going to be with us for quite some time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cherokee Soul Parade, June 21, 2006
This review is from: I Love You Me (Audio CD)
Just got my Copy of Ms. Cherry's Soul Parade today!

Amazing! Can't understand why Arista decided to shelf her sophmore effort, especially with Bilal and Andre 3000 on her tracks.

Took me 4+years to find this, but the seach is finally over.

Lesser known (Even though some would argue that Neo Soul itself is pretty much unknown to the masses). Here is a case of a lesser known neo Soul artist doin' her thang. She's got coffeehouse vibe written all over her. Kinda Jazzy. Kinda Bluesy. Kinda right altogether though. Some standout bumps are the sweet ditty "Oopsy Daisy", the tumultuous "Steppin' Stone", the provocative "Sexy Somethin'", the sexy "Blue Velvet Afta Shave", the hypnotique "I Love You...Me" and the best track, the Jazzy-&-Sexy-As-Hell "Fictitiously." A nice gem of a CD to add to your collection. So go do that. (wink!)

4.0 out of 5 stars Jazzy singin like we never hear today!, March 25, 2005
This review is from: I Love You Me (Audio CD)
R&B singers fit into two categories: Either they don't really have any talent but they have slammin bodies or they have amazing talent and maybe not quite the supermodel body. Cherokee does not show off her body here to much but she does show off her vocal cords some and she really shows of some talented writing skills approaching a lot of subjects that stay in the background. On "Stepping Stone" (5) she talks about a woman who is continuously verbally abused by her man but she keeps taking it until she finally has gained enough "strength to carry on." The music is all top notch with a band playing some blues, some jazz, and a little bit of funk. Her voice is very cool but I don't think that she has the pipes of some singers but this is ok cause what she does with her voice works perfectly well and leaves very little to be desired. If you are looking for an album with an honest singer and some funky tunes then go no further than Cherokee's "I Love you...Me."

4.0 out of 5 stars Not The Greatest Voice But...., September 16, 2002
This review is from: I Love You Me (Audio CD)
I must admit to having a soft spot in my heart for this one. This little gem of an album has a nice, laid back vibe that is both relaxing and liberating without trying too hard to be 'boho' or 'neo-soul'. "Sexy Somethin'" name checks a laundry list of celebrities that Cherokee finds sexy and I find it kinda' cool to hear a recording artist sound like just another fan! The jazzy, acoustic soul leanings of the music aren't new, but still manage to be a pleasant diversion from today's run-of the-mill R&B sounds. A nice collection.

I Love You....Me is definitely an anthem for women. Every song on this album is awesome. I totally vibe with her. Cherokee is definitely under-rated and that dissappoints me. I hope she is planning to release another album. I'm looking forward to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for late night listening, August 6, 1999
This review is from: I Love You Me (Audio CD)
Beautiful. I happened to pick up this CD when I was browsing one day. Judging by the cover, I thought it would probably be another standard R&B/Dance set (yawn!). I nevertheless asked to listen to it in the store, and was immediately struck by its unique sound. This is wonderful jazz poetry. I was pulling out my wallet before the second track had started. Quite a number of other shoppers who happened to be in the store at the same time ended up buying it as well!
