Some times you just have to say it...........,
By
This review is from: I Love You So Much (Hardcover)
This book is wonderful! The pictures are great and the story is lovely. My 7 year old refers to Lola as the little girl whose cheeks keep getting biggger until the words just have to come out. The book only takes about 5 minutes to read but the message will last a life time. It tells children, and parents, how important it is that we tell the people we love, "I love you, I love you, I love you so much!" This would be a great book for new parents to begin reading to their bundle of joy right from the start. A favorite in our home and is sure to be one in your home too.

Love, Hamster Style,
By Amy Steele "quirky mama" (Western NC, Land of the Mullets With Tails) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: I Love You So Much (Paperback)
I just wanted to add that the illustrations rock...almost every page has a scene that is grime-encrusted and trash-filled! You can see flies buzzin' and food flyin' through the air, Lola sitting on the toilet- if you are dainty, this book is gonna shock ya somewhat. Other pics are so realistic- Lola's mom rushing here and there, her parents kissing goodbye, a little graffiti on the bus, her and her parents watching TV while they eat dinner...it touches me because it's warm and real. I know that a previous reviewer was upset due to the fact that Lola "tries to tell everyone that she loves them" (something like that), but it is not that cut-and-dried. First off, this is a French hamster that we're talkin' about here; so passion rules in Lola's culture (if you look on the last page of this book, you will see that it was originally published in France). The people that Lola would have said "I love you" to seemed appropriate to me- her friends, her teacher, Frankie, the Skateboard King- it's not like she was going to state the big words to a random stranger. Lola did decide in one situation to not say her special words to the "annoying boy" next to her, so she knew that there were some rodents not worthy (of these words). Hey, at least Lola's heart is in the right place. And let's face it- we all have different levels of "I love you"; I think if Lola had gotten to say these words to a few others that it wouldn't have rocked the boat too much in either direction. In conclusion, a tempered book...not too overly sweet due to hamsters that eschew cleanliness.

Absolute Delight!,
This review is from: I Love You So Much (Hardcover)
Really wonderful little book. My 2 year old daughter absolutely loves it! I have to read it to her twice a day (once before her afternoon nap and once before bedtime).
The illustrations are wonderful and the story is very sweet.

My 6 years old loves this book! We had it for almost 2 years now and read it at least ones a week. We have many books, but this particular one is one of my son's favorite. I would recommend this book to any age.

My Son Loved It,
This review is from: I Love You So Much (Paperback)
I purchased this book for my Kindergarten son to challenge his reading level. Before I could even show it to him, he found it and brought it to me and started to read it on his own. Then he asked me to read it to him before bed and he read it again the next morning. It looks like it will become one of his favorites. It is a cute story and a great read for early readers (K-2).

not all the others say,

Although this book does have lovely illustrations and a theme about loving your family it really does not emphasize that expressing your love for someone is not something you do to just anyone. The little hamster girl tries to tell lots of people she loves them. Ultimately she tells her parents who she wanted to tell the most anyways, but there doesn't seem to be much focus on the fact that you shouldn't just tell anyone and everyone that you love them.

Arrived on time, but it got stuck in the mail box (which wasn't Amazon`s fault) which made it a late Christmas gift. Wasn't the type of book I thought it was, but my niece still loved it and she's 4!

If you are like me-bring tissues. It's just so sweet, I cry every time and my son likes it so much that he still requests it (at almost 7).

Wonderful story and illustrations,

I purchased this book in Dutch when I was visiting Holland a few weeks ago. I always purchase a childrens' book for a little friend of mine when I travel overseas. Sometimes I'm able to find something in the native language with an English translation. Or, I buy the native language version and get some help with a translation. I spent quite a while looking through the childrens' section in an Amsterdam bookstore and fell in love with the story (which I thought I understood in spite of my lack of understanding of Dutch) and the illustrations. I got some help translating the book and will be curious to see how close my version comes to the published one! The illustrations are wonderful. I think they will appeal to 2-5 year-olds and also to the adults reading to them. There are some wonderful little details in them.
