5.0 out of 5 stars Sheer fun!
Her job as a Protector is the last thing on her mind when she marries Blake Barrington. Jennifer Randall-Barrington is on a forced vacation from the Society for the Protection of Mortals and Control of Supernatural Beings (S.P.M.C.S.B.) when she falls head over heels for Blake. Unfortunately, she also misses all the warning signs and now finds herself married to a demon...

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring
Lots of "telling," bad dialogue, cheesy jokes, and TSTL moves. Heroine, who is a demon/ghoul/zombie/werewolf tracker, is blown away when she discovers the existence of aliens. Yeah. Right. Also, she can't tell that her husband is one of the creatures she supposedly has devoted her life to eliminating. In fact, she doesn't seem to be able to spot any of the creatures...

Unfortunately, she also misses all the warning signs and now finds herself married to a demon! Protectors kill demons... but can love find a way to make their unlikely match workable? Jennifer will have her toughest assignment yet, as the Bracelet of Invisibility is missing and her demon husband may be involved!

I love Beverly Rae's books and I MARRIED A DEMON is the perfect example of why this is so. The witty repartee coupled with the humorous situations make for one heck of a hysterical read! Beverly Rae is simply a master at combining the paranormal with the humorous as she does for demons what she'd previously done for banshees... she makes them utterly likable!

The characters in I MARRIED A DEMON are absolutely divine (pun intended). Even secondary characters make you want to see them more. Who couldn't help but give a sigh over Myra's substory? Myra is the quintessential friend, the friend who knows all the good and the bad and loves her best friend Jennifer regardless. Jennifer is also a phenomenal character as she balances her roles as a real estate agent and Protector with her roles of best friend and spouse. And am I the only one who giggled just a bit over a real estate agent vanquishing evil?

Beverly Rae writes stories that are sheer fun! I MARRIED A DEMON is practically impossible to put down. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars I think you will like Jenn and the rest of the characters in I Married a Demon., June 18, 2011
This review is from: I Married a Demon (Paperback)
Jennifer "Jenn" Randall has led a secret and double life for years. She is a real-estate agent but her real job is a Level 10 Protector with a super-secret Society, which protects mankind from the things that go "bump in the night". When she is ordered to take a vacation she heads to somewhere warm and never expects to fall in love. She ignores all her instincts, falls for, and marries a gorgeous man, Blake Barrington. One thing she never expects is that her new love might just be one of those beings she is supposed to protect humanity from.

Blake Barrington will do whatever it takes to become human again. In a bad set of circumstances he became a demon along with his brother. Now he is willing to make a deal to get his humanity back. He takes on a job to deliver an object of power to his demon lord, never expecting that his wife is tasked with looking for the same thing, or that his demon lord will up the ante and say he also must kill Jenn.

Knowing he isn't going to kill Jenn, keeping his brother from messing everything up, and figuring out how he can become human and keep Jenn might just be more than Blake can handle. Jenn, on the other hand, is trying to keep from believing all the signs that her husband is a demon. Even if he is, what is she going to do, as she is so in love with him, not to mention he is the best lover she has ever had? It's all in a day's work for a Protector.

I Married a Demon is the first book in the Para-Mates series by Beverly Rae and it definitely won't be the last that I read. I love how Ms. Rae is able to have a spunky character who takes life at a blinding pace and head-on, but at the same time be funny and loving. I think the idea of a secret society is fun and at the same time sort of scary. But overall, I Married a Demon has all the ingredients to make a successful and fun story, as well as the great start to a new series. I think you will like Jenn and the rest of the characters in I Married a Demon.
