5.0 out of 5 stars Genya at her Greatest!, August 24, 2007
This review is from: And I Mean It (Audio CD)
Genya Ravan - a visionary rocker who is in her prime on this hard-rockin' album. Genya knew how to produce & make her own records better than anyone else. This album is stunning from start to finish. If you like women rock singers, here is a true original for you. Together with her previous release " URBAN DESIRE ", " ... AND I MEAN IT !" stands the test of time as 2 of the greatest albums by female rock artists ever.

Hard-rock, R&B , & even doo-wop - Genya Ravan could weave all these influences together on these 10 tracks that are all killer. PEDAL TO THE METAL, I WON'T SLEEP ON THE WET SPOT NO MORE, IT'S ME , LOVE ISN'T LOVE & I'M WIRED WIRED WIRED are the work of genius - songs that are great & rock as hard as any 70's band of the time [ think Faces or Alice Cooper's original band ], and contain some witty lyrics as well. IT'S ME is as punk and outrageous as Patti Smith's ROCK & ROLL NIGGER.

This album came out in the summer of 1979 , and should have been a massive hit. Instead, 20th Century Fox Records folded, and the album didn't get further, as it deserved. Genya went on to produce RONNIE SPECTOR'S first solo album SIREN, as well as other artists and continues to record & perform in New York. She's captured in one of her many moments of greatness throughout this amazing album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic...And I Mean It, July 4, 2006

Thanks to Hip O Records for putting this lost classic back out there. This is a great rock and roll record - - it's really not punk rock, though that is what the album cover shot would have you believe. Every song here is strong and they still sound fresh. Genya - - you rock!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute Balls-To-The-Wall Rock and Roll!, June 22, 2010
This review is from: And I Mean It (Audio CD)
I bought this years ago on LP, then the cassette and then finally the CD. I have not regretted any of those purchases. The voice, the lyrics, the music. This album rocks, Genya's voice is at its best. You will not tire of listening to this one. Best cuts: Wont Sleep On The Wet Spot, Love Isn't Love, Stubborn Kinda Girl. But really, all of them are great. Music like this never gets old.

Listen to this and weep for the current crop of waifs who "sing" with nasal tones and no force behind their words. Genya rocks!

Genya cuts no corners in her down to earth classic rockers once again. The blues ballads can be ranked as among the best ever. Why her career was so short is the musical mystery of the century.

4.0 out of 5 stars Genya Ravan: AND I MEAN IT!, January 28, 2008
This review is from: And I Mean It (Audio CD)
This CD is a minor long-lost classic from the seventies punk movement
that was just recently issued on CD (I had the vinyl years ago).
Genya Ravan was a powerful singer who I believe was a native of Poland.
She was one of the regulars at the famous CBGB's club in New York (which
also spawned the better known Talking Heads and Blondie).
This album's best songs are "Pedal To The Metal" (should have been a
huge hit), "Junkman" (a ballad with a guest appearance by Ian Hunter, for-
merly Mott The Hoople's front man) and the infamous feminist anthem "I
Won't Sleep On The Wet Spot No More." "Stubborn Kinda Girl" and "It's Me"
are also strong tracks.
This album has the energy of the Ramones but a lot more smarts and
melody. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars You'll "Go All The Way" With This Record, June 26, 2006
This review is from: And I Mean It (Audio CD)
I bought this album right after I purchased her earlier release, Urban Desire. I was not the slightest bit disapointed. This record sounds a little different than earlier ones. Not in a bad way, no, it's sound sparkles and shines likes the lights of NYC. Very brilliant. I remember looking out a New York window; Listening to track number 3 "Steve...", and I got chills. This record won't disapoint, you'll be impressed by her (yet again).
