5.0 out of 5 stars Sarcofago's brutal, classic debut!!!, April 16, 2002
By Sean (Lakeland, Fl.) - See all my reviews
Back in the mid 80's, South America had one of the most promising Thrash/Death/Black metal scenes in the world. With promising acts such as Vulcano, Mutilator, Holocausto, Pentagram, Sepultura, and the brutal Sarcofago. Sarcofago were the leaders of the scene with their blasphemous "INRI" debut album. Light-years ahead of it's time it would go on to provide the basic blueprint for modern day Black Metal. This was released back in '86, it was and still is today ahead of it's time. Nobody ever made something as Extreme as this. Venom, Bathory, and may be Mercyful Fate had their 15 minutes of shock galore, but Sarcofago still remains, and are still around making more hate-filled music... If you thought Norwegin Black Metal was as ugly as you could get, think again. Sarcofago will rip your mind apart.

5.0 out of 5 stars A BLACK METAL CLASSIC!!!!, April 30, 1999
By A Customer
Finally somebody had the guts to release this record on the US market...

This album, without a doubt, is one of the most influencial extreme metal records ever released. It's hard to listen to all these post-'90 black metal metal bands and not see Sarcófago written all over them. To prove my point:

A - Impaled Nazarene recorded a cover song by them in one of their first EPs;

B - Euronymous exchanged letters with Antichrist ( Sarcófago's lead vocalist );

C - Blasphemy & Beherit members declared on some interviews that they had Sarcófago as a reference point to their music.

It's surprising to realize that this record was released back in 1987! Now anyone can find out where these trendy norwegians took their sound from. Also worthy to note is that they played black metal on period that everyone was playing crossover or thrash metal! Do yourself a favor & buy one of the forgotten classics of BLACK METAL!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Old School Black/Thrash metal, October 11, 2002
By A Customer
This is one of the bands that helped make Blackmetal what it istoday. Euronymous of Mayhem likedSacofago because of the spikes andcorpsepaint that are typical of many BM bands today. The songs areall dripping with evilness and never get old. These guys are still around today and hopefully they will release a new album soon.
