Since I have my multiple laptops, and PC around my house, this really comes in handy. I have a pc on my home office. I have a pc for my tv's multimedia device. I have my own laptop, and my wife has her own laptop, and some times friends come over and they bring their own laptops... So to have a printer and an external hard drive, it makes it perfect. Product did not recognized my lexmark printer X1240 series but it did recognized my cannon ip1800 printer. I hooked it up with a 320gb western digital external hardrive and it's working flawlessly. I bout a USB fan and hooked it on there as well to keep my hard drive and the product cool. The price just simply beats a server by the long buck :D... I highly recommend it.

The ineo USB hub comes in a small attractive package, but that doesn't make it worth buying. I spend hours (to no avail) trying to get this device to work with my printer. Fortunately, it recognizes my external USB 2.0 hard drive, although it always makes me wait 4.5 minutes from the time I connect to it before the drive shows up as accessible. The data rate is only about 4 Mbps (that's mega bits per second) despite the fact that it claims to support 100 Mbps LAN and 480 Mbps high speed USB 2.0. When I plug the drive directly into my computer (i.e., remove the cute little ineo hub) the data rate goes up to over 200 Mbps.
I had hoped this device would make automatic backups a snap for my laptop, but given these limitations it's not going to happen. I advise against buying this box.

This is a good unit. It does exactly what you want it to do, that is after you update the firmware in it. If your not very computer savy, then you may have some trouble getting it to work on computers running Windows Vista. It works well on computers running Windows XP.

Let me preface this by saying that the problem with this device seems to be software support. There weren't updates for the software that I could find, even though updating the software would probably fix some of this product's problem.
Compared to the Arkview Network Device USB 2.0 Share Hub it wasn't as solid and had more compatibility problems. When it worked, it was fine, but it didn't work with all windows versions or devices I tried. Although the manufacturer site stated this supports windows 7, I had problems using it on win 7, which is why I ultimately stuck with the Belkin F5L009 5-Port Network USB Hub, which actually has software updates and better compatibility/reliability than the ineo hub. Other compatibility issues included the scanning function of the HP Psc 1510 All-in-one Printer and Western Digital My Book External Hard Drive - 500 GB--the ineo and belkin devices both have a problem registering this drive in windows (vista/7), although you can make it work with some patience (explorer.exe may crash if you don't let it finish trying to "See" the drive). I recommend going for the Belkin over this, even if it means shelling out a bit. You could also do what I did and return it if it has compatibility trouble with your specific setup.

good product, but needs software for computers to interface with printers. it would be nice to have printers appear automatically, but i haven't found a way to do that w/ this product.

PROS:
Setup was fairly easy. It does what it says it does. Printer server is very convenient. Installer puts the printers in your applications (like word) so you print just like you normally would (no logging into the printer manually) Cons: A top speed of 100 Mb/s on the network connection puts a severe dent in the usb 2.0 speed of 480 Mb/s, not including overhead. No streaming HD! The Belkin usb hub supports gigabit Ethernet. Having to connect to an HDD every time you want to see files is a nuisance, but this device is cheaper than a NAS or a computer. Comments: I have one Hard disk and two printers on it. this is a great solution for printers and an acceptable solution for USB Hard Disks. Performance: Sequential read 2.095 MB/s, sequential write 4.975 MB/s.

The Ineo Network USB hub does precisely what it claims to do. In fact, it seems to work better with audio devices (specifically, a Plantronics CS-50USB wireless headset) than does the Belkin network USB hub F5L009.
Haven't tried it with a printer, have two external hard drives connected to it as well as the above-mentioned Plantronics headset.

I am using Network USB hub for print sharing and to make a 1 TB external HDD available to multiple computers. Connected to the network with no problems and got print sharing set up very quickly. It stepped me through the LPR print configuration and configuraton was flawless.
I could not get it to recognize the 1TB external HDD (error message generated). I contacted customer support and received OUTSTANDING service. Replies were prompt and helpful. They recommended I upgrade to a newer version of the sharing software and allowed me to download it from their FTP site because it was too big for email. Got it working after a couple emails. In terms of operation, the HDD sharing is a unsophisticated - when you gain access/connect to the HDD no one else can access it until you disconnnect. If they are connected, it will let you know. In my case, the users of this device won't need to access the HDD at the same time, so it is ideal. For the price I am very satisfied with this product and VERY pleased with the customer service I received. |
