I Need a Doctor, the new single from Dr. Dre and from the forthcoming (hopefully) album "Detox", is not your typical G-Funk masterpiece from the good Doctor. At least that's what many people seem to be saying.

When most people think of Dre, they think of songs like "G Thang" and "STill D.R.E." and the recent "Kush". Piano driven tracks dripping with G-Funk. And they would be right, however Dre's got another side to him too. The side that is kind of out of the left field rockin' tracks such as D12's "Fight Music" or the psychopathic "Natural Born Killers" track that Dre did with Ice Cube. It's not all that west coast banging.

So as soon as I heard the vocals of Skylar Grey begin on this track I knew there would be the backlash from a lot of people who were expecting that old familiar Dr. Dre that they loved, not necessarily the Dr. Dre that was more creative and intelligent.

While Dre's vocals on this song wasn't his strongest (although let's be clear, Dre's not known for writing lyrics), I think Eminem's were very strong. The fact that the lyrical content was so intensely personal to Em, made it even more so. Yes, Em is yelling his lyrics, however I think it's appropriate considering A. the fierceness of the track, and B. the content.

Em's basically letting Dre know how much he feels in debt to him for all he's done for Em's career, and how weird Em feels when he gets the sense that Dre is depending on HIM now. It's like, how do you address a situation where you are suddenly being looked up to by someone you view as YOUR mentor?

I'm much more a fan of Eminem's intelligent and personal lyrics such as this one or "The Way I Am" or "When I'm Gone" to the senseless rantings of some of his other more radio pop type tracks.

All these people bashing this song saying it's not Dre are right, it's not. It's an Eminem song about Dre and it's awesome. I think it's funny how people are calling this track a sellout and saying it's unoriginal yet it doesn't sound like any other kind of rap out there. Ironically these are the same people who are angry because it doesn't sound just like all the hip hop tracks back in the 90's did. If you enjoy raps that include substance and intelligence then download this song.

I LOVE this song, but this mix is absolutely terrible. The sound is extremely muddy, over-bassed, and sounds like a low-def recording made from a tape-deck. It's really a shame.

The version performed at the Grammys is about 100x better than this studio track, which is an absolute tragedy.

If the rest of the album is mixed like this, I'm going to pass.

In short: GREAT song, AWFUL/Muddy mix

The title says it all: I love the song - then again, virtually anything my Eminem and Dre is bound to be great, so no surprise there. The quality of the download, however, is something with which I am not impressed. Every other DL from Amazon has been great, but not this one.

There are some songs you have to hear a few times before you realize you like it. Some songs are played so much that you believe you like it because you've heard it so much that you learn the words. I heard this today, for the first time, and instantly fell for it.

I love how these two friends.take care of each other and stand by each other through thick and thin. This song tells listeners all about their friendship and what it takes to be a true friend.

Beat is good and the lyrics are perfectly put together. Even though Dre hasn't been in the music game for a while, he shows that he hasn't lost his s***.
