This Year's Heavy Hitter 2009!,
By Denise Bolds "Lion Who Reads A Lot!" (New York United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)

Wow! This one took me by surprise! Dr. Brock Johnson leaves his Dr. Wife Erica after getting a cancer diagnosis. What this story does is represent what a man goes thru with the diagnosis of testicualr cancer while also being a romance....It's push & pull all the way for this couple. The male portrayal in this story of fearing what an illness can take away is aoustounding...This is a love story and a support story. With a great twist involvng
another man - I Need More is more than that! This book is not a quickie! I did love Ginnifer and her living arrangement with two lovers...whew! That can be another story on its own! Ms. White delivers in this story real topics that are unforgetable. This book should be on EVERY book club list - the discussions about this book are ENDLESS!!!

Expect the Unexpected With This One!,
By Ashleymarcia (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Need More (Paperback)
Let me start by saying that this book is a page turner from beginning to end! Dr. Erica Johnson is stunned when her husband of three years walks out on her without any explanation. Little does she know that Brock's reason for leaving has to do with the personal pain that results from his own recent health discovery. Yet, when Erica finds comfort within the friendship of a handsome co-worker Brock realizes that he must somehow overcome his own insecurities to fight for his marriage. The book begins with Erica presenting him with divorce papers...
After the first few pages this story had me riveted. The author does a great job of giving us this couple's history as the story unfolds so that we can truly see why their love is worth fighting for. However, somewhere along the way it seems the author loses focus, which results in this story becoming extremely frustrating and overly dramatic towards the end. Here, it appears that Erica's personality seems to change and she becomes selfish and almost unrecognizable. Whereas Brock almost appears pathetic with his threats to the other man and his inability to move beyond his own insecurities. Two secondary story lines about her best friend's love life (think ménage à trois) and Brock's mother's romance further shift the story away from the main characters at some of the most inopportune times. Then an unexpected psychopath emerges, further complicating everything. In spite of this story's flaws, I gave it a rating of 4 because I could not put it down until I knew how it ended. The sex scenes are steamy, the characters are quirky, and the love is real. If you are ready for this emotional roller coaster ride then I suggest you check out this book. However, my favorite love story from this author is Forever After, which showcases her writing ability at its best.

Best book I've read this year!!!!!!,
By Raphaella Armenti (Outside, TN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Need More (Paperback)
The book took me by surprise in the first chapter, as to what kind of book it was. I'm not a fan of sad romance, someone dying and way to much sex. This book excited me from the beginning until the end. I reread some parts to under stand just what the writer was really saying. Brock's character in the beginning was a little sad and some men have enough pride for three men. In his case he was just to much at being the strong man and it came back to bite him in the ass. But, I could see my husband doing the samething. Then I got mad at Ericka for not understanding him, her husband after all he had been to her during her dark days of trying to put her life together.
But the over all meaning I came away with this story, is that, If you are in a commitment relationship such as marriage, it has to be open communication for everything. Most men think they can't ever be weak. A lot of romance novels never show the weak side of a man, always the mancho, good looking, and rich. Men do get sick, they have feeling, they are not always drop dead gergeous and some just work for a living. In this book Kimberly White expressed it all and I'm so greatful to have read it. Women need to understand what men want more understanding and the same with women. I think she did a wonderful job showing the good and the bad of a marriage. The writer that call the book a punk, what is her relationship with her man?????

I needed this to end,

Okay, I love Kim White. I have almost all of her books and I've read them all hundreds of times. So when I bought this book I knew I was going to be in for a real treat. Well, that's not so with this book. She really went left field with this story line. I'm not a fan of men being punks and that's exactly what her hero of the book is...A straight up punk. The heroine of the story is real good for standing by her man and her marriage but damn it took too long for the problem to finally come to light and how she found out about the situation was just not necessary, that could've been told in chapter 5 somewhere. I really couldn't wait to finish this book. I was very dissapointed in Kim White's writing style this time. I think she should've taken more time to make this book better than it was. And also, I know Kim is a nurse, but what was with the unpronouncable medical words? I was going crazy trying to pronounce stuff. That also turned me off. Kim I love your books but this one was not good. I'm sorry

I Needed More....,

Dt. Erica Johnson's husband Dr. Brock Johnson walks out on her without any explanation of why he is leaving, For the seven months that he has been gone he had given Erika no indication of wanting to reconcile, all the while hiding a secret and the real reason why he left. Erika finally tired of the waiting asks for a divorce, while at the same time cultivating a relationship with another physician that she works with. Brock refuses to grant her a divorce but also refused to work on their marriage. Then the games begin... I have to say that although a fan of Ms White previous works, It was like watching paint dry, it was 100 pages too long. It was the same thing over and over and over again to the point where the main characters really got on my nerves and I had to force myself to finish. The only bright spot in the story is the secondary characters especially Ginnifer the sassy sistah with 2 live in lovers. I think it could have been much better. 2.5 stars

I Needed More From This Book,

I, too am a fan of Kimberly White's work normally, but agree this book was not that good and I couldn't wait to finish it.
Erica was Psychologist, which was shocking because she was incredibly naive. Brock, Erica's husband is also a doctor too, who leaves her without an explanation. After seven months of separation, Erica decides to serve Brock with divorce papers. He refuses to give her a divorce, but refuses to explain why he left. Brock gets a wake up call, when he realizes another man is interested in replacing him for his wife's affection. Mark befriended Erica and became a shoulder for her to lean on. He has fallen in love with Erica and is determined not to give her up without a fight. He seems to be a kind and caring man, but we soon discover he has his own issues. The truth of what caused Brock to leave Erica eventually comes to the light, but I agree it took to long to get there. Mark's role in the story made it bearable, however a third of the way through the book, I was like alright already can we wrap this story up, dang! When I finally got to the end, I was like....is there a chapter missing? In my opinion the build up was pretty good, but the ending was anti-climatic at best. This story left me needing more and less, which is why it was not very good. I for one was sorely disappointed. I gave it 3 stars, because wasn't horrible, but it definitely could have been rented from the library, because it just wasn't worth my money.

I've passed this book up on the bookstore and on Kindle since it first came out. I was really reluctant to purchase it, but figured since I had a discount coupon, if I didn't like it, I had only paid $4 for it, so that wasn't bad. I'm extremely glad that I spent that $4. I truly enjoyed this book. I don't see the doctor as a punk, but truly as a man who thought he was doing the right thing by trying to save his wife from having to deal with watching him die after being diagnosed with cancer. I guess it helps that I know what that feels like since I've watched how cancer has taken the life of some close family members. I loved Ginnifer and her roomies. I hope there is a book that will let us know the outcome of Ginnifer's and Bradley's relationship and if she actually gets rid of Frick and Frack (Will and Rhon). I knew something was not quite right with Mark, but couldn't figure it out until he started talking to those voices.

I did not like this book at all. It was very boring from the beginning and did not improve as I continued reading. I am not familiar with this author's work and don't know if I will give her another chance because this book was very disappointing.
