While not a complete greatest hits, since it only covers 1979-1981, this disc does feature a good number of long versions, filling out a whole CD, the way it should be. Track times:

I have always liked the Teena Marie songs that pop up on the radio, like "Square Biz" and "I Need Your Lovin'". Based on those songs, I always assumed that she was just a "disco diva" with a great voice. Now that I have this CD, I realize that she is so much more than that! Her music runs the gamut from deep soul to funk to jazz and there is even a little bit of Latin influence on the JAZZY ballad "Portuguese Love". That song is probably the highlight of the CD, it is one of the most soulful songs I've ever heard. Her voice is unbelievable! And she also writes, arranges, produces, and plays multiple instruments on most of these songs! This CD has been remastered and includes the full long versions of all the songs (no radio edits!), so whether you are in the mood to dance or relax, this is the perfect CD.

Lady T has been wicked it seems for a long long time.she is to me the baddest one-woman band in the biz.able to groove on bass,keys,drums,guitar, write,arrange,produce her own stuff not to mention have one of the tightest soulful voices that i've ever heard.she started out under Rick James(a genius in his own right)and developed her independence to create her own idenity like on I need your loving,sqaure biz(a free style rap in there i might add)a cut that I love to this day written by Rick but sung with vigor by Lady T deja vu i've been here before.that song is essential.this album has elements of Funk,pop,world,jazz,hip-hop,and at the center of it all the power and dynamic teena marie. the epic set is tight as well she is so bad that she went to two labels and hit hard on both. that's the genius and hard work of this lady.

"Square Biz". "I Need Your Lovin". "Behind the Groove". "Deja Vu". "Ooh La La". "Lovergirl". (The last 2 can be found on "Lovergirl: The Teena Marie Story"). What do all of these songs have in common, besides being classics? They have all been sampled (or borrowed, whatever suits you best) for some of today's hits. This is a testament to Teena Marie's music. An incredible compilation of timeless hits, such as "Portugese Love" (get this CD if only for this song - the extended version is one of the best R&B ballads you'll ever hear), "Irons in the Fire", and, of course, "I Need Your Lovin'". The range of songs represented in this collection is no less than phenominal. This CD will become an instant classic in your collection if you're any fan of R&B, or of music, for that matter. This CD is one of my favorites, and when someone asks me to borrow it, it's like a Lay's commercial: "Get Your Own!!!!" So get this CD and allow Teena Marie to "lay the smack down" on your senses!

This is my favorite Motown release of Teena's early music. When I bought it, I didn't have the WILD & PEACEFUL cd (only the album & a tape I played to death!) so I purchased this disc for two of my favorite ballads: TURNIN' ME ON & DEJA VU (album version).

For the new Teena fans this is a great way to introduce yourselves to her music - contains a good balance of old school funk: BEHIND THE GROOVE, I NEED YOUR LOVIN, SQUARE BIZ, IT MUST BE MAGIC mixed with her powerful ballads: NOW THAT I HAVE YOU, IRONS IN THE FIRE & PORTUGUESE LOVE.

You can't go wrong in purchasing this disc whether you're a fan or a newbie to her music! Enjoy if you purchase it!

I am a true Teena Marie fan and I simply love anything she puts out. If you love old school, then this is a perfect CD to add to your collection. CD is filled with great ballots. My favorites are Deja Vu, Now that I have you, and Turnin' me on......Oh I love it. For true Teena Marie fans only!!!!!!!!!

Although Teena's best work happened in a Epic/Sony. This is an excellent look back at all the Motown hits that established her as a writer, arranger, producer, and powerful singer. Motown adds two previously unreleased songs which are must haves for anyone who loves Teena Marie or a lover of R&B music. (If you want the best at Epic get "Lovergirl: The Teena Marie Story".

This is an excellent CD! "Portugese Love" is one of my favorite Teena Marie songs. This CD is so good that if any of the songs start to skip, I'll have to buy another copy, 'cause this CD is just too good to do without!

What a GREAT addition to my teena Marie collection. I can only echo the words of the great reviews I have read on this site. This CD is a MUST HAVE for every fan as it includes all the extended 12 inch LP versions of her biggest hits and the two bonus/previously unreleasded cuts are priceless. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
