Psychic chick lit,
By Little D (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Never Fancied Him Anyway (Paperback)
Overall I really enjoyed this story. It was a unique idea. What I didnt like was how long it was. There was some things that didnt need to be there to get the point of the story across. It made me want to skip over those things, but I didnt. I was expecting more or a romantic comedy. This book delivers the comedy but not the romance that I was hoping for between the main character Cassy and Jake.

What's in the cards?,
By Book Lover from GA (Georgia, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Never Fancied Him Anyway (Paperback)
I loved how easy this book was to read. Cassandra is definitely not what I picture in my head whenever I hear the term seer or psychic. And I loved how she was worried about the feelings of her friends and the people who called or wrote in with their problems. There were parts of the book that brought tears to my eyes and others where I wanted to laugh out loud or hot someone on the back of their head for missing the obvious.

Loved it!,
This review is from: I Never Fancied Him Anyway (Kindle Edition)
I am so extremely picky when it comes to books! I will go to the library and check about ten books out and out of those ten I will actually only be able to HOPEFULLY read one! I was so thrilled to actually make it past the first chapter and wasn't able to put it down! Carroll writes brilliantly and I love the slang used (for us Americans it's adorable). Since reading British and Irish lit. I have consistently had to use my dictionary. They seem to use much more of our language than we do! If you have read Jill mansell or Katie Fforde you will love this light humor read! If you haven't, then get this, then find mansell and Fforde!

This review is from: I Never Fancied Him Anyway (Paperback)
I Never Fancied Him Anyway is a very cute and uplifiting love story. Cassie is a very lovable character that always has the best at heart. As a very outgoing person is consistently trying to help everyone around her, but at a loss when it comes to herself. Chick Lit has never been my style, but I found this be an enjoyable read. The characters are likeable and quirky. A opportunity for you at the cost of someone elses happiness is a hard decision to make. Even if you are risking your own happiness. Reports have been made that Wendy Finerman, the producer of "The Devil Wears Prada" and "P.S. I Love You" , will be creating a film based on this book. I will definetly be in line to watch this movie; with this book and the producer of these two wonderful movies I believe this promises to be memorable.

amusing lighthearted frolic,
This review is from: I Never Fancied Him Anyway (Paperback)
In Dublin, Tattle Magazine columnist Cassandra writes a spiritual and psychic column answering questions from readers. Almost thirty she has been extremely successful at seeing glimpses of the future for over two decades. Her skill is somewhat limited to "flashes" of insight into the love lives of strangers. Her wealthy friend Charlene arranges with her lover TV producer Jack Hamilton for Cassandra to appear on the air. There are two problems with the arrangement. First Jack is Cassandra's dream lover though she conceals her feelings from her BFF and the fantasy of her dreams. Second whenever she is near Jack, her psychic skill fails to perform; a bit of a problem for TV. With a bit of whimsy as the dreaded lists are letters from Cassandra's readers asking for her advice, I NEVER FANCIED HIM ANYWAY is an amusing lighthearted frolic starring a wonderful protagonist. Cassie holds the story line together as she struggles between betraying her best friend and betraying her heart. Although Jack and Charlene are never fully developed beyond respective one joke acts, Claudia Carroll provides sub-genre fans with a quirky amusing contemporary. Harriet Klausner |
