Beautiful single..., January 20, 2004
This review is from: I Promise Pt.2 (Audio CD)
Stacie's sweet soprano suits this Diane Warren-penned song perfectly. 'I Promise' is a mid-tempo ballad, but it still has a catchy chorus that is sure to get some attention from radio. The track listing for this single, however, is incorrect. The correct tracks are:
1. I PROMISE
2. I PROMISE (CHRIS COX RADIO EDIT)
3. I PROMISE (BORIS & BECK RADIO EDIT)
4. WHAT ARE YOU DOING NEW YEAR'S EVE?
5. I PROMISE (ENHANCED VIDEO)
The remixes are great (and not agonizingly long), and track 4 is a jazzy, bluesy holiday number that Stacie performs amazingly well. Chris Cox, by the way, is one half of the former team that made up Thunderpuss (Barry Harris is the other producer/remixer). Great buy!

A Kid's Review
I've heard "I Promise" and the two remixes, and let me tella ya, they're great! "I Promise" is pretty and calm and the remixes make it sound cool and upbeat. Very awesome and reccomended.

Stacie Orrico, "I Promise" [Import CD Single], October 3, 2005
This review is from: I Promise Pt.2 (Audio CD)
"I Promise" is a Diane Warren penned ballad and was the third single released from Stacie's sophomore effort, Stacie Orrico. The first track, the album version "I Promise" is a beautiful piece of vocal emotion, describing the questions one would ask themselves about supporting the other when entering into a relationship. The second track, the Chris Cox (Kelly Osbourne, "One Word"; Janet Jackson, "Megamix") Radio Mix is hard hitting; excellent for dance insterest and clubs. When listening to this mix, one can hear the influence that was Thunderpuss, the now-defunct remixing of team of Chris Cox and Barry Harris. Despite the similarity of sound, this mix does fall a little short of a full Thunderpuss feel. (NOTE: Chris remixed Stacie's first single from this album, "Stuck", with Barry Harris as Thunderpuss. "Stuck" was one of their last remixes as a team). The third track is the Boris & Beck (Debelah Morgan, "Yesterday"; Renee Stakey, "Rainy Day") Radio Mix of the title song. It is a high energy remix, with a good progression during the bridge. Also good for dance interest and clubs. The next (and last) audio track is Stacie's cover of the Holiday classic, "(What Are You Doing) New Year's Eve?" This song is a beautiful R&B/jazz groove, with a great showcase of emotional thought. The single also includes the video for "I Promise". It would be nice if full-length, dub, mixshow, tribapella and bonus beat mixes were available for this track. The track listing is:
1. Album Version 4:14
2. Chris Cox Radio Mix 4:09
3. Boris & Beck Radio Mix 3:42
4. (What Are You Doing) New Year's Eve? 3:59
5. Video 3:44
Great job! Keep it up!!!
