This is first of all a hot cover of a great song most will remember as a Creedence Clearwater Revival tune (it's actually much older than that). Shane Macgowan complete with new choppers, Nick Cave, Chrissi Hynde, Mick Jones, and a Johnny Depp guitar solo! The video is on YouTube, if you care to preview before you buy, but its a natural. All the money goes to Haiti relief, and the need is greater even than it was in the days of "We Are The World". That was a noble effort, perhaps even more star-studded (but these stars are definitely among the most studded, anywhere), but while refugees and hunger have been with us a long while, the crisis in Haiti is acute, and not nearly as far along in resolution as we should like and expect almost two months in. So buy this NOW! And get all your friends and enemies to buy it also. They'll thank you. Here is a chance to help and have fun (this is a MUCH better song than the aforementioned 80's chorus-ey one).

I came across this song by accident and very glad that I did. This song falls into the category of "not your typical disaster relief song". That said, I feel that there is more heart and soul in this little song than in the huge bloated remake of "We Are The World". Not that the latter is a bad song, but this is for us grown ups. "I Put A Spell On You" is rock and roll, baby. It is worth noting that Johnny Depp plays a mean, mean guitar. He's certainly a talented man. I am a long-time fan of Chrissie Hynde and love her vocals on this song. That woman can still belt out a tune. Wow! This song is loud and raucous and I still don't know Shane MacGowan and his music, but glad he and his friends got together. Each purchase of this MP3 goes (still) to Haiti relief, so download it now.
