5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, September 30, 2008

This review is from: I Remember You (Audio CD)
I have been a fan of T&P for over 20 years and was even fortunate enough to do a vocal workshop with Patti. Not only are T&P incredibly gifted musicians, they are also 'real' people. In their music and through their lives, they walk their talk. Love is the key and it does take your breath away! This album nestles right in there with their previous ones - impeccably executed and filled with the warmth of Patti's voice and Tuck's heartfelt dexterity. Both have enviable chops but only use those skills to enhance the music and the lyrics, never just to show off. Put on the headphones, close your eyes and be embraced by the love T&P share with the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Album of Classic Songs, October 6, 2008

I bought this album on the recommendation of a friend without knowing much about the artists or what to expect. Needless to say, the songs on this album far surpassed any expectations I might have had. The old standards performed by this duo are re-imagined in a minimalist style that puts most of the focus on smooth, clear vocals accompanied solely by acoustic guitar. Patti's voice is jazzy, pitch perfect and soothing, which makes this CD perfect to put on at a dinner party or when you're relaxing with a book and a glass of wine. My favorite tracks on the CD are "I Remember You" and "When I Fall in Love."

I highly recommend this album and will be seeking out more music by Tuck and Patti to add to my collection. You should as well!

I am truly a fan. This is a great jazz album. They are totally great together musically and Patti's voice is breathtaking. This album is smooth and highly anticipated. Whether you are a fan from long ago or newly found, this is truly a treat!

I too, had been waiting for a jazz album from T & P, and this was well worth the wait. Highly recommended for fans old and new. All tracks are fantastic, but I especially love "Old Devil Moon".

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally, April 22, 2008

Finally they did it, a standards album. I was really waiting for it. The fact that Tuck never recorded a pure jazz album until today (apart maybe for Reckless Precision his solo guitar album) was to me a true disappointment. I know the duo since they came out and since the first day I was waiting for a standards album, because frankly I have to say that more than a time I found the material the guys choosed to record, not that great. I was eagerly waiting for a pure straight ahead jazz album by them because each time they recorded a standard in their career they did wonderful jobs, so ... finally here it is. And I think it is just a very nice album. Probably the one I love the most in their discography, together with "Love warriors". Here you'll find only one tune by Tuck alone and it is "It might as well be spring". Tuck is a marvel and comps impeccably, with fantasy and a fantastic time. A true one man band. Patti's voice is always great, even if she has a limited range in my opinion. But she touches you with a voice so, warm, so soft. They have their style, we have to admit this. There have been some important duos in the history of jazz music, ... the most famous is probably the collaboration that happened between Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass. I have to repeat myself, I said this also in another review, I prefer Tuck to Joe pass even if I love Pass too of course. But Tuck is more "modern", ... has more options (they only thing I don't appreciate that much here is his indulgence in the use of volume pedal ... too much sometimes), ... and Patti probably can't be really compared to Ella, but I find her, even if a little bit predictable over time (nice scats anyway), overall a very pleasing singer. The repertoire they choosed here is nice, all very famous and beautiful standards. I love this album. Four and a half stars they totally deserve is my rating.

PS After many listening sessions, ... I have to add something, or better to reinforce an opinion I expressed here, ... Tuck, quit the volume pedal PLEASE!!! Quit it please. You are such an amazing player that you REALLY don't need it. By the way it is reaaaaally too much ,... it seems to me to be on a boat, ... I have the sea sickness!!!! QUIT IT!!!! This wonderful recording is ruined by this indulgence in the use of the volume pedal!! Didn't they listen back to what they put on tape!?!?
