Hal's Best CD to date!,
By Mark (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Saw The Light (Audio CD)
I have all of Hal's CDs except Awaiting Redemption which I plan on getting soon. So from all of the other CDs of his this one is by FAR the best of the bunch! Of course it didn't have the commercial success of his earlier CDs but this is this best work. Usually on anyones CD I would skip a song or two that I didn't like but not with this album. Every song is of high quality that you will never get sick of. My favorite on the album is "For Tonight". Get this album and you won't go wrong.

Hal Ketchum is back & better than ever!,
By A Customer
This review is from: I Saw The Light (Audio CD)
Hal Ketchum's CD shows the great diversity of modern country music. It's not from the genre of Waylon Jennings or Willie Nelson, but reflects the reality that many of today's country music fans grew up with the Beatles, Motown, and Elvis. If Shania Twain is trying to reach many audiances as a cross-over female singer, then Hal Ketchum's stong performances reveal a unique male style that appeals to those who appreciate a wonderful array of music and a great artist.Every track on this CD is an experience. From the memories of the 1970's to contemporary country with R&B backgrounds, the CD is great!

Hal Ketchum......I Love This CD!!!,
By
This review is from: I Saw The Light (Audio CD)
I'd heard, and liked, Hal on the radio for years. Then I saw him on Austin City Limits singing songs from this CD and fell in love with his music! I grew up listening to the Country greats - Hank Williams, Kitty Wells, Ernest Tubb, Ray Price, Ferlin Husky, Carl Smith, etc... Okay, the songs on "I Saw the Light" have a little lusher arrangements in general, but still there is something about the music that makes me think of classic country. Maybe it's that the songs have the ring of everyday-truth that Hank's had or that Hal's voice is as warm and sweet as Ray Price's. Whatever the reason, I consider this CD Classic country. It is never out of my CD player for long and I never even THINK of skipping a song. My favorites are 'Tell Me', 'Long Way Down', 'The Unforgiven', and 'For Tonight', but really there is not a bad song on the entire CD. If you like Classic country...heck, if you like good music period, give this CD a try.

A new wife, a new home in Chicago, and a new CD; life seems to be looking downright peaceful for Hal Ketchum. This long awaited CD features several songs well equipped for country radio starting with the lead single "I Saw The Light." Other recommendable songs are "When Love Looks Back At You," "Too Many Memories," and "The Unforgiven." This is a great CD and is worth taking a listen to.

I'm a newcomer to Hal's music, but of the four tapes of his that I own, this is most definitely my favorite. He has a style all his own...so real and enthusiastic...this is one CD you won't wanna pass up! A few of my favorite cuts are: "For Tonight", "The Unforgiven", "Tell Me" and "When Love Looks Back at You". Such an incredible compilation of songs...you won't regret purchasing this one!

Hal Ketchum is REAL,

I have seen Hal Ketchum perform twice at the Back Yard in Austin, TX. Both times I was moved by Hal's songs, and the way he performed them. I especially like Hal because he sings from the heart. The words he write mean something to him. This CD is a good investment for your collection.

I happily happened on to this CD in a very round about way. One day while channel surfing on my TV I saw the video of "I Saw The Light" and was hooked. This is one of my favorite CD's to come along in a long time and I am not normally a C&W fan. This may just turn me around. If you just plain love ballads and well sung music, you have got to get this! THANKS HAL, and I'm looking forward to more of your music in the future.
