5.0 out of 5 stars a super-duper reading lamp with a design issue
GOOD NEWS. Beautifully designed, very functional (but see below), multi-adjustable, powerful LED reading lamp.

BAD NEWS. Over engineered: way too many levels of intensity and lacks a single purpose power switch. One needs to click-click-click-click to get to the highest intensity (the only one I ever use) and then again click-click-click-click to turn if off...

I have to start by saying that I do really like the look and styling of this lamp. However, there are a few critical flaws that make it way over-priced. It assembles easily and has a nice modern, clean look. I ordered the WARM light but it is not warm (It looks like light in a hospital operating room. Maybe their idea of warm is not the same as mine!)and it is not powerful enough. I expected, with the 4, not 5, options for lighting intensity (I guess the 5th intensity is 'off.') that it would be bright enough to light my bedroom. But, even though the lights are LED, they are not bright even at the highest setting. A lesser problem, but still a flaw, is that the connection for the plug is 3" up the leg. Why is the connection not on the base or better, under the base? For such a modern lamp, they could have put the connection, in an out-of-the-way place, instead of a very visible place. At the end of the day, I will keep the lamp, but I will not be ordering a 2nd one, or a table-top one, unless the price goes to about $80, which would be a fare price for this lamp.

GOOD NEWS. Beautifully designed, very functional (but see below), multi-adjustable, powerful LED reading lamp.

BAD NEWS. Over engineered: way too many levels of intensity and lacks a single purpose power switch. One needs to click-click-click-click to get to the highest intensity (the only one I ever use) and then again click-click-click-click to turn if off (or pull the plug).

MORE GOOD NEWS. Responsive and friendly customer support. A newly designed power switch is coming (but that won't fix my problem unless there will be some kind of a trade in/up program).

RECOMMENDATION TO THE MANUFACTURER. Just 2 buttons would suffice: on/off and high/low.

MINOR PROBLEM. It rotates too easily.

Maybe it is too hype up for its brightness (from other reviews), I found its light adequate for a small reading or work area, but not bright enough to replace my halogen torchiere yet. It is similar to other 15-25W CFL or 60W old bulb. Maybe I was expecting too much from just 9W of power. If there is a lumen rating (for comparison to other light sources), that would have helped.

Light is still on the white side (supposed to be warm white), but as a work light or reading, that is OK.

Easy to install. Good style (well integration of LEDs and control. Articulating arm is also easy to position in any way you want.

Time will tell about reliability. I hope the saving in electricity is worth it. It is still a bit expensive for my taste.

5.0 out of 5 stars High-tech floor reading lamp, November 18, 2010

My wife and I really like this light! It has a modern, sleek, minimalist design. The 6 LEDs draw only 9 watts total, and throw a white light, not "warm". Instead of an On-Off switch, it has + and - buttons, which allow you to toggle between 4 light intensity levels, and Off. All in all, this light is very unobtrusive yet serves our needs beautifully. If only it were cheap.............

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Choice, December 8, 2011

Great lamp, does exactly what I bought it for. I wanted a light to read by without illuminating the whole room. Great light and when my 'better half' doesn't turn it off it is not running up the electric bill.

It was easy to assemble. From delivery to working in less than 5 minutes.

Great purchase going to buy another one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality, easy-to-assemble, warm LED floor lamp, October 30, 2011

This product does everything that it claimed it would do has a nice, modern aesthetic look. The parts seem to be high quality and the assembly was painless. The light levels are plenty high enough for reading, which is what I wanted. The warm light is pleasantly close to incandescent, yet there is no heat and no fire hazard from the bulbs. I sometimes leave the light on its lowest setting at night so that the lamp acts as a low-power night light.

My only suggestion for improvement relates to one set screw at the base that requires the use of a number zero screw driver. You can assemble the lamp and use it without tightening that screw, but if you pick up the light it will detach from the base. In my case I have the required screwdriver, but some may not. If the manufacturer either used a different screw type that was hand adjustable, or supplied a small driver, then no one would have to scramble for a screw driver. This is a minor item for a fine product.

I should note that the lamp is easy to dis-assemble in case you need to store it or move it long distances.

I feel that the lamp is good value for the money. As LED prices come down, I would hope to be able to buy this a year or two from now for a 1/3 or half of the current price. When that happens I will buy several more.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great little lamp, July 23, 2011

I am (after a couple of weeks) totally satisfied with this lamp. I wanted one that didn't obstruct the view and was good for reading, as I require a pretty bright light. I was concerned about how much brightness would come out of the LEDs, but have found that the 2nd of 4 levels is all I need. Plus the lights are of course totally heat-free. The lamp is very easy to assemble and is quite sturdy with good tight joints. It can be positioned exactly where you need illumination. An excellent product. Thanks, Koncept.

ps: I needed some advice about the assembly, so called Koncept's customer service. Someone answered the phone right away and was able to easily talk me through the issue. How refreshing!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Light, February 27, 2011

So far, so good with this lamp. It has a nice, modern design. There are a few pieces to put together, but it's not too hard and all you need is a small phillps screwdriver.

For those wondering about the cord, it's much like something you'd get with other small electronic devices - there's a "wall wart" transformer, then a thin low-voltage wire that plugs in 3" above the base. My best guess for the reason it's like this is because the post from the base goes up about 2", so the 3" point is where they needed to put the receptacle.

The light uses out 2, 4, 6, and 9 watts of electricity for the four settings.

Also note, there are two models for this light with different light intensities: HLD500D / Daylight White / 4250~4750K and HLD500W / Warm White / 3200~3700K.

Mine is the warm white version. It does the job just fine as a reading lamp. One thing of note is that if you can imagine the light radius, the outer edge - maybe 2-3" is yellow. This doesn't bother me however since all the other light is white and it has more than enough light radius for what I need.

It will be nice when LED lights come down in price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent reading lamp for my recliner., November 10, 2010

I have been looking for a lamp that I can keep behind my recliner without compromising space in a small area and this floor lamp is absolutely perfect. The 4 dimmer selections along with the ability to move and point the LED lighting directly where I want it, add to the user friendly features.
And did I mention that it is designed by an American company? Well it is.

4.0 out of 5 stars Item as described, could use some design improvements, March 8, 2010

This review is from: I-Tower High Power LED Floor Lamp- Silver/Warm Generation 2
When this lamp first arrived, I was a bit skeptical at how light it was.

It does seem to be stable, but there is a bit of looseness where the first pole connects to the base (to allow swiveling I presume).

I also thought it would be taller than it is. (The main section is only about 4 feet tall). The light it provides is bright, not yellowish at all, and fairly directed. As I am intending to use this as a crafting lamp, it is exactly what I wanted, but if you want it to do ambient lighting for the whole room, this is probably not what you want (I suppose you could bounce it off the walls).

I like that it is adjustable and that the lighting head can swivel making it easy to direct the light right at my work.

The only thing I really don't like is the transformer brick that connects to the main pole with one of those little barrel connectors. I would have preferred to have the transformer integrated into the base and have it plug in with one of those figure 8 shaped on one end 2 prong plugs (US) on the other, or some other standard cable. The extra weight would also probably help add extra stability to the base. The transformer is about cell phone sized (not huge) but the cable isn't very long (5 feet maybe?).

The cable coming out of the base would probably prevent trips depending on where you are putting it) Although it is nice that the light swivels at the base, I think that having it swivel on top of the main pole and secured more tightly at the base would make it more stable. Don't get me wrong, this is in no danger of tipping over, but the slight wobblyness at the base makes it loo less sturdy than it is. It's far more attractive for my living room than the more common crafting lamps, and given that it uses half the power of most of those even though it is 3-4 times the price, as often as I will be using it, it will probably pay for itself in a few years.
