One heck of an album!,
This review is from: I Want My Money Back (Audio CD)
Sammy Kershaw has proven himself a singer of the working class. Well, folks, he's here again, doin' the thing he's best at--singing to YOU!Check out the redneck tunes. "Beer, Bait, and Ammo" is as redneck as you can get; "28/83" is somewhat redneck-ish (those're AGES, in case you're wondering...); and "I Want My Money Back," the quirky title track and first single, is about the redneck in us all. But there's more here than rednecks and fishin'. A brilliant cover of Anthony Smith's "Metropolis" brings to life a small-town man's desire for the big city...and home. "Stitches," another Smith song, praises mothers all over the world; while "The Paper Heart" is a tribute to daughters and their fathers. "Miss What's Her Name" provides a little humor--it ain't the only track--while "Gone For Good Goodbye" is pretty much the saddest song I've heard yet this year. "Are You Having Fun Yet" is for the limo drivers, the stage crew, the fans, and pretty much everybody else that makes a singer's career what it is. "Sunday Morning On Bourbon Street" gives the blues a whole new meaning. And the care-free "I've Never Been Anywhere" makes your heart all warm and fuzy. Sammy Kershaw's pretty much the master of whatever he sings; this is a given, if you listen to country radio (and you do, or you wouldn't be here!). You've already heard some of the man's older stuff; why not check out his most recent CD? I can promise you that you won't want your money back after this baby!

This is the best Sammy Kershaw CD ever released! By far! The stand-out track in my opinion is Sunday Morning on Bourbon Street. But all of the songs are really, really good...

I truly love all of Sammy Kershaw's work - however this cd is totally AWESOME! I don't even know which song is my favorite - I have so many on this new cd. I absolutely love "Ms. What's Her Name" and "28/83 She Ain't in for the Love" as well as the jazzy New Orleans themed song "Bourbon Street" which I can see other stations besides country playing this one. I also love "Gone for Good Goodbye" and the current single "I Want My Money Back". This cd is well worth the money and it is a fun cd - it has a great country sound and Sammy's voice sounds so good...he really has put his heart and soul into this cd and you can tell. I would highly recommend this cd to any country music enthusiast. Love ya Sammy!

Great and honest with his music,

Sammy has not changed his style to please the mainstream. He knows what his fans like the best. In the past some said his voice reminded too much George Jones (I have never seen what was wrong with that). In this new wonderful CD, Sammy's voice is even greater than ever, a very distinctive style with wonderful tender songs about family values (Stiches, Paper Heart) and a lot of fun with "Beer, Bait and Ammo" my favorite to quote a few because there is not a song I don't like on this album!. They misspelled my name!,
By Claude Parish with one "R" (Greensburg, LA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Want My Money Back (Audio CD)
I was one of the writers on "The Paper Heart". The only change Sammy made in the song was the gender of the child. That meant also revising one of the lines about standing next to a boy who stands at six feet tall. The original line was "There's a picture of a boy who stands at six feet tall..."Not much of a compromise to get a leading country artist to record your song. Sammy did a great job and I'm proud to have been associated with this album, albeit it in a small way. But there's only one "R" in my last name. Let's just hope the check comes with the right name on it.

I DON'T want my money back,

Sammy Kershaw may have falledn out of mainstream music which is not dominated by the likes of Celine Dion, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Hilary Duff and those other fakes. But Sammy still contiunes to make great music. This is probally one of, if not the best Sammy Kershaw album to date. Sammy's voice does somewhat sound like George Jones, but that is not a bad thing at all. The title track is one that will make you smile every time when he sings about going to college and still having to work at a fast food place ("I want my money back"). "Beer, Bait, and Ammo" is also a very country, very catchty tune that will also make you smile. This album is all good songs, if you are a country music fan or a Sammy Kershaw fan, you need this album!
