great song and remake, January 23, 2008

Whitney Houston did a great job turning Dolly Parton's Country Western song into an R&B classic. Doing remakes in a different genre than the original song doesn't usually work very well (Example : Mindless Self Indulgence covering
Bring the Pain by Method Man. That so did not work). But Whitney greatly made
I Will Always Love You work as an R&B song. My Opinion :
I Will Always Love You is probably Whitney's best song to date. It has her best vocals. It was a lot better than her cover of
I'm Every Woman (Chaka Kahn Version). To me,
I'm Every Woman sounded way too much like the original Chaka Khan version. As Cheryl James Wray/Salt put it on VH1's "100 greatest songs of the 90's" : "Dolly Parton ain't sing it like that. She (WH) took that song to a whole new level". Anyways, Whitney Houston did a great job turning "I Will Always Love You" into a massive R&B hit and I hope Houston makes a return to music soon.

Whitney Houston is a a Incredible Legendary vocalist who is a benchmark and this cover of Dolly Parton's I'll always love you cemented her importance and depth into a whole different world as a Pop benchmark. her vocals were incredible here.
