Product Description
The story of liberalism, starting with a 13-year old being inspired by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, as he relishes living under the New Deal and is distressed by the conservative backlash that is scuttling the New Deal, and ending with a 91-year old's abundant praise for today's FDR: President Barack H. Obama.
Many old-fashioned liberals are unhappy with Obama. They want him to fight as Roosevelt did. They don't understand that the Left-Right battles of New-Deal days no longer apply because our society has been radically transformed. Obama understands this, and he applies different approaches.
The true political division today is not between Left and Right, but between those who fight only for their self-interest, be they Democrats, Republicans or Independents, and those also concerned with the common good.
President Obama works for the common good. He is the new type of liberal.
