4.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, but good..., March 11, 2010

This review is from: I-mobile Sd/mmc/usb/mp3 Wireless in Car Fm Transmitter with Remote (Yellow) (Electronics)
I bought this to put my mp3 player in the usb, but the music sounds choppy and slow. I contacted the seller about the mp3 player and my iPod. They said my music was poor quality, and told me to use the audio jack with the iPod because the I-mobile couldn't play music off of a device with folders. Well, I had played the music before and I know that it wasn't poor quality--they were different qualities. As a matter of fact, two songs played slightly better than the others and they were 96 bitrate. So, whatever--I didn't pay $100 for the thing, and it got the job done with the audio jack. I got curious later about the SD card slot. I had only used an SD card for my camera, I had no idea I could put more than just pics on it. The card plays so well! I can't use random for my music with the SD card, so every now and again I'll just rearrange my music on the SD card. If you get this product, I suggest you invest in a 2GB, $10 SD card. Well, I guess it depends on where you live how much you pay for one! :) Oh, one thing I almost forgot: I'm about 99% positive that you should tune into a station that isn't being used or a weak station--one that you can't hear cleary, to avoid static. Well, I guess that's 49.5/49.5, huh? lol I use the very first station around here which is 88.5 FM
In conclusion: 1)I don't care about the USB (even though that was what I bought it for) because there are alternate ways of playing music my music 2)Using the I-mobile made me use my brain which made me smarter :p

Update 4/24/10: if you hold in the play button on the device it will allow you to use repeat and shuffle options. Also, the equalizer comes in handy cuz it won't let me keep turning up the volume. When I put it on "normal," sometimes I turn the volume too loud and my speakers will "pop" a little.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good MP3 Player, April 25, 2010
This review is from: I-mobile Sd/mmc/usb/mp3 Wireless in Car Fm Transmitter with Remote (Yellow) (Electronics)
I got this as a present and it's practically perfect. It will play the songs off the card out of my cell phone or off a flash drive. I like the little remote, the only thing that's weird is that the 0 is not at the bottom of the keypad numbers. Works great though. I would have liked a randomize play setting, but that's OK, 'cause you can navigate to any song by its number instead. The sound quality through the radio is good too. I was going to buy it if I hadn't gotten it as a present. Good value for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, July 9, 2010

This transmitter comes in several colors. I bought the yellow one because it had the best reviews - silly, but why take a chance? Anyhow, it works. I've had it for about 3 weeks and I find it adequate. It was easy to set the transmission frequency and actually has a stronger signal than those broadcast commercially. That is, when it's plugged in, it'll interfere with my reception of neighboring stations.

The sound quality of the broadcast is somewhat thin. You'll definitely notice a lack of richness even when compared to regular broadcast radio; like listening through a pillow or in mono.

I use mine with a thumb drive. The extended length of the thumb drive makes positioning it so as to read the display somewhat problematic in my vehicle. I recommend putting your music on an SD card if you have one laying around (though I've not personally tried that). I think it'll fit better. The display's only purpose is in setting the broadcast frequency. You really don't need to see the display once you've selected your frequency (assuming you don't have to change frequencies later). Doing so could present a problem, however. The display is a backlit LCD and mine burned out after only one day. I can no longer discern what digits are being displayed. If you can imagine a digital display with each segmented part of the digit displayed with nearly equal luminance (e.g. is it an '8', or is it a '3'?), then you'll know what I'm talking about.

Though my display is worthless, the device itself works pretty well. You'll need to turn up the volume on your radio to achieve the same level as you're used to with regular broadcast radio or CDs. Also, you might here some crackling. I'm fairly certain this is due to too high of a recording level when either the song was cut, or the MP3 generated. If I had the time, I could repair all my MP3s, but I don't want to run them all through a digital editor to make sure they don't exceed their gain limits. I'll have to live with the crackling on my especially boisterous tunes.
