The girls of I5 know just what modern chicks dig, and know just how to express it. They might have a slight similarity to the Spice Girls, but I guarantee you the sound they produce is all their own! Here's a breif overview of the tracks:

1. Ladidi Ladida: This is a hot song! It has lyrics like "Baby you can drive my" and "Maybe I could ride your..." But they trail off to instrumentals that rock the house. It's a perky, playful, promiscuous song you have to hear!

2. Distracted: You've probably heard this one on the radio. I like how it incorporates modern teen life e.g. "When I'm driving in my car when I'm talking on my cell, cramming for a final or when I'm watching TRL." along with traditional, peppy pop beats. This one rules! Even if you don't like it, you have to buy this CD, because it demonstrates so many types of music.

3. Cinderella This is the greatest song of all time! "I don't wanna be like Cinderella sittin in a dark cold dusty cellar waiting for somebody to come and set me free." Definitely girl power and just an amazingly catchy tune here!

4. First Kiss A good song, fast and slow all at once. You have to hear it to understand it. IT does a very good job of capturing the feelings you have before that first kiss with your guy.

5. If I Ever See Heaven Again My favorite ballad here. It's very soft and touching and the tune is so perfect.

6. Scream Shout BEST PARTY SONG LATELY! It starts off with a Latin beat that sounds familiar but goes on to an undisputedly great pop number. I would describe it as "Spice Up Your Life" meets "Jumpin' Jumpin'"

7. Recipe, The Very clever, talks about the perfect blend of love. Cute song worth a listen.

8. Can I Get A Witness: Sometimes you need someone to testify that you're feeling love. Sometimes you need a little help in convincing the crush, too. That's what this is all about. Very Spice-ish.

9. Last Thing I Need: Love is a pesky thing, isn't it? You've already got a guy, but some ultra-cute boy had entered your life suddenly and now he's the first thing you want but (you guessed it!) the last thing you need!AAARRGGGHH! Men are so frustrating.

10. Sweet N' Sassy All about girl power again (Most of them are) This is incredible! I especially like the opening "uh, uh, uh's" and the lyrics are great. I consider it my theme song. "I am all girl in this boy's world, but I don't think of it in those terms.." I just can't help loving it.

11. Best Friend: Okay, who out there has stalked the new hottie that moved into the neighborhood? I admit, I tried it once and worked out about as well as it does in the song. I did all the crazy stuff to get his attention and imagined he was chasing after me, too. That ended badly...

12. That's What Love Will Do (They Say) I like this. It is very reminescent of Christina Aguilera's "So Emotional." Click on the audio clip, I think you'll see what I mean.

13: Sweet Sixteen: I5 takes on Destiny's Child's song here. Probably the worst idea on the whole CD, but I understand their logic in putting it on here.

That's it. 12 pefect tracks (And one really lousy interpretation) that all must be heard and appreciated. I5 is the most distinctive girl group I've heard lately, they're multi-ethnic backgrounds have a wonderful influence on their music which will have fans drawing like paper clips to a magnet! (Yeah, I admit it, I'm bad on these similies!)

5.0 out of 5 stars The.most.underrated.girl.group.ever!, February 20, 2005
This review is from: I5 (Audio CD)
I dont get why SOME morons on Amazon make lists putting these girls in the bad...their obviously people who have VERY poor taste in pop music...VERY poor!

Now that I got that off my chest I gotta say I was an i5 fan from the time they came out. I was then 13 and I found their single 'Distracted', fell in love, bought the album, and spent 4 years wondering whatever happened to them. Not suprisingly I come to find out they disbanded about 2001...but the surprise was why: their label collapsed RIGHT after the album was released...so there was never any videos or singles or promotion put into them after that. Apparently they just said to heck with it and went about their lives. Sad really but we will always have this CD as a reminder of what *could* have been if they'd had a better label or that label hadnt collapsed.

Ladies and Gentlemen your about to hear some of the FINEST pop EVER! EVER! This is Spice Girls and Abba GREAT if that says anything to you. i5 was along the lines of the next Spice Girls. 5 different ladies from 5 different countries with pretty and unique looks. Though all their cultural influences weren't evident (only the Spanish ones really seeped through seeings how that was the trend of the time) this is still some of the best pop ever! Dont believe me? Try and guess how many of the songs have since been rerecorded to great success with other artists...3. Yep 3.

i5 kicks off with 'Ladidi' a cover (so thats one of the 3 lol okay I cheated a little :p but thats the only shady one I promise!) of a popular European groups song. Veeerrry sneaky. 'I wanna make you come.............before I give you sooooome...' LOL! It was racy but in the innocent Spice Girl styled way. Not like nowadays Britney Spears stuff this was campy and not sleazy all the way!

'Distracted' was their first and only single. BRILLIANT! It plays on a few themes of the time (Mocha latte, Cell phones, TRL) *but* it holds up better then some crap from that time (see Innocense's 'www.fan-ta-see.com' *shudders*.) Very sweet and catchy intense love song.

'Cinderella' is the first legitimate to be cover later song. Disney's Cheetah Girls (in my mind) stole it and murdered it was an Rnb theme. i5's version is MUCH better I promise! A fast paced girl power anthem that if had been released would have cemented their new Spice Girl status.

'First Kiss' is the final 'to be covered later' song. Nina a popular Fillipino artist used it on her second CD. I havent heard it so I cant say if it was true or not to the original. Its an okay song, one of i5's weaker moments but still sweet and innocent. Almost borders on 'too kiddish' though.

'If I ever see heaven again' starts out with sad slow instruments and a 'aawwwaaaawwwwaaa' Mariah Carey type note sung by one of the ladies. A sad sweet Diane Warren song that the ladies put their all into...

'Scream shout' was one of the few co written songs and again played heavily on trends of the time (Y2K, Computers, Latin themes.) However a lot of people find it a great dancy song and I cant deny that!

'Recipe' is a faster paced tune that well is okay but its like 'First Kiss' just kinda there and not special. Thats okay though because its followed by the Rnb flavored 'Can I get a witness?' I LOVE THAT SONG! Its just brilliant and I highly recommend it for any pop lover!

'Last thing I need' joins 'Recipe' and 'Sweet N Sassy' joins 'Scream Shout'. Both different yet have the same things going for them. Nothing special but at least ones a good listen!

Next up is the expiremental dance fused 'Best friend'. Very fast, very catchy, and a brilliant example of i5's greatness!

Sadly the last track we'll ever hear from i5 is the sweet and simple yet complicated 'Thats what love will do (they say)'. Its a great track that is a bit more 'out there' but it is a sad reminder that this is the end of the CD, and the end of new songs you'll ever hear from a group that disbanded 4 years ago...

Overall i5 is a brilliant gem often overlooked and ignored in the pop world! Want to be a pop fan? Want to be a pop star? Want to know all you can about great music? GET THIS CD...NOW!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great C.D. for pop music lovers., June 27, 2005
This review is from: I5 (Audio CD)
I heard the song Distracted at Recordtown (now F.Y.E.), a record store, when the C.D. came out. I thought it was a great song (and I usually don't love a song the first time I hear it) so I bought the C.D. I'm glad I did now, because the other reviews on this website say that they don't have any other C.D.'s and disbanded! Distracted is my favorite song on the C.D. and I also love The Recipe. Cinderella is a good song. It was also done by two other groups: 1) Play and 2) the Cheetah Girls (in a Disney Channel movie). Ladidi Ladida is a good song, too, and it was done by the group S.O.A.P. first.

4.0 out of 5 stars NOT Just Another Teen Group, January 5, 2001
This review is from: I5 (Audio CD)
These internationally-flavored girls have TALENT, and this CD proves they are not JUST another Teen girl Group. "Ladidi Ladida" is a cover of a song by Danish duo S.O.A.P., and while staying true to the original, I5 give the song *their* flavor, making it a pop/R&B treat. "Distracted" is one of the most original pop songs on the market right now. It captures the teen sound so popular right now but doesn't rely on the typical Swedish hitmakers or R&B-lite. "Cinderella" starts off with a mellotrone that could have been lifted directly from the Beatles "Strawberry Fields". With a groove-heavy beat and a super catchy chorus screaming "GIRL POWER" this track is one of the best on the CD. The next track, "First Kiss", incorporates harpsichord with an R&B backbeat and good vocals to create another winner. A little "catch" in the chorus melody gives this an additional "spark". "If I Ever See Heaven Again", written by master songwriter Dianne Warren, starts off with one member of I5 trying to be Mariah Carey and singing in the "whale octave". She doesn't quite get it, but the effort is admirable. This is a typical Warren ballad, and only the girls' talented vocals prevent this song from dissolving into sugary mush. "Scream Shout" is a track that sounds very much like "Spice Up Your Life" from the Spice Girls. Up-tempo latin dance beats and party sounds make this a groove song! "The Recipe" soulds similar to "Cinderella" and "Ladidi Ladida", being produced by the same team, Cutfather & Joe. The lyrics on this one is what carries it, being a little more clever than normal teen-pop fare. "Can I Get A Witness" is more R&B than anything else on this CD, and sounds very similar to the Spice Girls' "updated" sound. A mellow track with a definite hook. "The Last Thing I Need" is a down-tempo pop track, almost a ballad, with great harmonies in the chorus. It's well-written, well-produced, and well-sung. "Sweet N' Sassy" is another Latin influenced number, and the chorus is probably one of the most addictive on the CD. A great piano track adds to the enjoyment. My other favorite track on this CD is the pounding club track "Best Friend". A bass-heavy track with an instantly memorable chorus and an incredible energy level, this track should be released to clubs right away. Another Mariah Carey-vocal reach opens "That's What Love Will Do (They Say)". This ballad is much better than "If I Ever See Heaven Again". It has some funk to it, and the arrangement gives the song much more life. Earlier reviewers had mentioned there was a track called "Sweet Sixteen" on this CD. It is not listed nor is it a hidden track. But it doesn't matter. This CD is FINE without it. A GREAT pop-treat for the new millenium!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Catchy Pop, June 11, 2005
This review is from: I5 (Audio CD)
i5 has provided a typical teenage pop CD. Good enough vocals, and photogenic group members. Many people voice such complaints as "the same as everyone else" and "nothing different" but there's a reason pop was, and is so popular. This CD has some great dance songs, and a few pretty ballads. My personal favorites are Ladidi Ladida and Scream Shout. Other highlights include the first single "Distracted," the cute "First Kiss," and the pop gem "The Recipe."

4.0 out of 5 stars Nothin but pop!, August 12, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: I5 (Audio CD)
This album shows talent, coming across in average pop songs (which are alright!)It opens with the cover of S.O.A.Ps hit,"Ladidi,Ladida", and hurls itself straight into there hit,"Distracted",which is a very high standard of pop!..makes references to average life e.g when Im crammen for a final, when Im watchin TRL!...And into the chorus. Then next is the uptempo workings of cinderella...includes references to victims in fairy tales, like snow white and cinderella!-very well written! Then theres first kiss, which has an almost r n b touch...not about you're very first kiss ever, but you're first kiss, with someone new! Next is If I ever see heaven again, which is a ballad, written by diane warren. This is a very good take on an average pop ballad, good singing! Then theres the disco/Latin SCREAM, SHOUT. It reminds me of the cup of life by Ricky martin, but a bit faster!Next is the recipe: the song resembles cinderella, in that its the same speed and sounds like the same kind of track, but its based round a completly different subject, the songs all about the things a perfect man needs, in the form of a recipe. next is can I get a witness, this also has an r n b touch/influence, very well done! Then theres the Last thing I need, another pop song! next is Sweet and Sassy which is a great latino song!a good place to put this song is, as it is near the back, as tracks begin to get familiar! Best friend - this is the one song I cant stand!, it sounds alright on the sample, but when you hear all of it you, think perhaps theres no point in having this song on the album! Its a dance song, but it completely recks the poppy flow that runs through the tracks on the album! Track is a really good song to finish an album with, Its called Thats what love will do, its not a ballad but the beat sounds more relaxed all though the bass is heavy! Its a very good pop song, it resembles Hearsays "Pure and Simple"!

This album is good, perhaps better than good, but the reason it gets 4 stars is because of the number of times I've said average to describe a song!
