Product Description

From Children's Software Revue® -- "Subscribe Now!"

This is a nice little package that contains the travel edition of the Brain Quest trivia cards in addition to a multi subject CD-ROM version. Kids in first grade get to answer questions revolving around subjects like math, reading and general knowledge. Right off the bat, we can say that the electronic version extends the life of the traditional hard copy game. Instead of just one question set, there are three sets to work with. Friends and siblings will particularly like the multi player and tournament modes.

On the whole, the CD is enjoyable and easy to use but the first grade version does have some major weaknesses. Games are saved but there's no record of the questions kids miss. More significant is the fact that while questions are read aloud, answers are generally not, making it impossible for most first graders to play without help from an older child or adult. Also, while the program provides direct access to World Book Online, substantive help for answers is absent. For a literate first grader, we'd buy the package without hesitation. Consider the program for a beginning reader only if an adult or older brother or sister can be there to lend a hand.
