Hello. I'm the author and thought I'd give you a brief perspective about what I wrote and why I wrote it. First, this book is NOT intended to be an in-depth technical discussion of the features of IDS 11. Rather, it showcases the tremendous technologies included in this release from a business / business case perspective. Certainly there are brief explanations of the technologies in other IBM or IDS-oriented locations or publications but none are integrated into a "whole" like what is presented here.

For far too long, customers and potential customers have wondered about the direction and future viability of this tremendous data server. That IBM would publish this kind of customer-focused book for their internal and external sales teams, partners and other interested parties to use is a clear statement the data server is here to stay. That the data server contains so many new and innovative technologies (with more to come) indicates it is thriving technically and has a bright future in terms of solving customer problems and/or making it easier for users of the technology to do business.

If you're looking for a easy-to-read, "why should I care?" explanation of what Informix Dynamic Server 11 can do for you and your business, this is the publication IBM would have you read.
