If you're looking for a business-oriented notebook or desktop-replacement system, the ThinkPad A22M is a product that should not be overlooked. ThinkPad A-series notebooks may be a little bit bigger and beefier than their T-series cousins, but they're less pricey, too. And they have all the features you need to be productive, like a 1 GHz Pentium III chip, 128 MB of RAM (expandable to 512 MB), and a 14.1-inch active-matrix screen with 1,024 x 768 resolution. Storage comes in the form of a sizable 30 GB hard disk drive and 8x DVD-ROM drive. Ethernet networking and a 56K modem are standard, too. The notebook comes with Windows 2000, Microsoft's corporate-oriented operating system, and a license for Lotus SmartSuite.

I run the last KDE 3.5 version of Mepis on this machine and it works amazingly well. The LCD's color isn't perfect, and only 1 USB. Other than that, it does everything I need and more.
