Product Description

IC Diamond 7 Carat Thermal Compound maximizes thermal heat transfer between the CPU core and heatsink by taking advantage of diamond's superior thermal conductivity. Purified synthetic diamond has a thermal conductivity of 2,000-2,500 W/mK compared to 406-429 W/mK for pure silver.Diamond's five times better thermal conductivity compared to silver makes it a superior heat transfer material for cooling high performance CPUs and is electrically non-conductive and non-capacitive.

A few notes: this stuff is REALLY thick.

So you really only need to apply this once (as removal will scratch things).

This is the ONLY thermal paste I will use on my CPU / Cooler!

I just purchased this along with a new CPU, a 920XM, for my laptop. Since it's an XM processor, I'm able to overclock it well beyond the stock clocks at 3.4Ghz across ALL cores.
The downside is that it generates A LOT of heat. This paste is second to none in my book and keeps my temps below 70° C while overclocking while many XM users that I know of can reach temperatures of 90° C easily. Mind you, that's only with the paste, no thermal pads are on the CPU! It really is a great paste.
Just a heads-up to you all planning on using it: Make sure you either put the syringe in boiling water for 5 mins or so OR use a heat gun to heat the syringe and make the paste malleable, like I did. It makes the whole process a lot easier.
Good luck to everyone planning on using this great product!

important: follow the IC Diamond manufacturer's instructions, which is on their website. When applying, I did their suggested method, which was putting a glob in the center and pressing down, and not lifting up again - I know it's tempting to lift it up to observe the coverage, but just don't do it. It ruins the airless/bubbleless contact effect that the "glob method" creates. I also made sure that the surfaces were completely clean, carefully cleaning several times over so no resedue of inferior products would get in the way.

when the product arrived, I peeled off the label. Along the translucent barrel were little measurement lines. I also saw that there was hardly anything in the tube. Looked like enough for 5 or 6 applications, max. So don't waste it! You can go and buy the version with more in it, it's just more expensive. But I only had a couple applications I needed to do anyway:

used it on an old Dell GX280 with fans screaming at 50% processor use - works silently now. I even loaded up several big programs, putting the processor to the torture test: computer started freezing up with all the huge tasks, processor 100% for an hour, no screaming fan! It's a definite difference.

also used it on my Gateway FX P7805-U, which was slowing down during game play before. I had a silver compound on processor and a thermal pad on the GPU. I used the IC DIAMOND on the processor and a copper shim with IC DIAMOND in between the shim/cooling assembly and shim/GPU. Game does not slow up, or if it does, it must be hardly at all. I mean, my system has my limits, but it just doesn't seem to slow up anymore, from what I was assuming was a heating problem.

I actually in the end was so impressed I ordered the aformentioned larger capacity version, to have on hand for other computers/friends' computers.

I purchased this after reading the reviews also. I'm a big fan of Arctic Silver 5, so it took a lot of research to try anything else. I have an ASUS ROG and the fans were running pretty hard during intense gaming even though it wasn't warm inside (I was under a heated blanket for warmth). I had read that the stock ASUS thermal paste had a high failure rate, so I decided to change the thermal paste on both the gpu and cpu before summer hits here (110 outside, 84 w ac on inside).

I do not have before and after temps, tho that would be a good demonstration. what I CAN say is that when I was done I was really worried that I had somehow accidentally disabled the fans, because they simply weren't running. period. I finally got them to turn on a little bit with very intense usage----nothing like they were before even at idle.

THAT's how cold this thing is keeping the processors. I was so impressed, I headed over to my overheating desktop graphics card and cpu. Once again, the paste worked admirably. I had enough in one 4.8 gram tube to get them all (cpu and gpu in laptop and desktop) with a little left over.

A few notes: this stuff is REALLY thick. I heated mine up in boiling water for 2 minutes, and then ended up just throwing it in the microwave for about 2 minutes. I still came out super thick, like a really thick epoxy texture. (it's not a glue, its just super dense). I really like that it's electrically non-conductive. great for spillover. I used the arctic cleaner n prep and this stuff didn't really want to stick to the surface, so it may be less than compatible with that. it still worked. I just made a light haze with some of the compound on both surfaces, then squeezed a large pea size on the middle and plunked the heat sink back on.

I used this on my own CPU 3 years ago and still holds the same temps it did back then. It is really thick, but it will not need replaced like thinner TIM. Arctic Silver doesn't hold a candle to this stuff. I bought this tube for another project, but it's the best out there I've used.

This is the best thermal compound on the market, in my opinion. Its quality and performance superceeds that of anything arctic silver makes. mx4 doesn't even compare to ic diamond.

Bought this after reading the reviews and researching on Google and various other sites and after using Arctic Silver 5. Used AS5 on my laptop and saw no significant difference in temperatures got a low of 36C when idle but always got high 55-70 when using and CPU fan didnt seem to want to cut off.
Replaced with IC Diamond 24 Carat and now Laptop is quiet and cooler. got a low of 37C when idle and when using it never crosses 55C. Remains at constant 40-45 and runs cool and quiet.
NON Conductive is best for laptops since they have one huge heatsink, I think Id be using this on ANY and EVERYTHING that needs Thermal compound both desktop and laptop, even on Graphics Card.
