About the Author

Carol A. Venable, MPH, RHIA, FAHIMA, is a department head and a professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and Anita C. Hazelwood, MLS, RHIA, FAHIMA, is an associate professor at the same university. Their book, ICD-10-CM Preview, was first published by AHIMA in 2003 and was updated in 2004 with a new chapter on ICD-10-PCS. Both authors have conducted numerous coding workshops at hte local, state, and national levels. oreover, they have published articles in Educational Perspectives in Health Information Management, in addition to serving on its editorial review board, and in the Journal of AHIMA. Active voluntters of AHIMA, Ms. Venable and Ms. Hazelwood are members of the Assembly on Education and the Society for Clinical Coding and have served on the baord of the Assembly on Education. Ms. Hazelwood also has served on the board of the Society for Clinical Coding.
