4.0 out of 5 stars Good product.......Would buy again
I bought a pair of Yak Trax which lasted me about four times before they broke. Very disappointing. I then ordered a pair of these. They don't grip the Ice as good as Yak Trax, but at least they are built sturdy enough to last. Over all, I'm satisfied with the product and think it's worth the money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cool look, poor design!
Nice, durable, well-made product that absolutely does not work. The chains roll underfoot, and they slip on ice as though you were wearing skates. I don't see any purpose for these except as decoration, and dangerous decoration at that. They'll make you fall!

5.0 out of 5 stars ICEtrekkers, February 15, 2010

I got these after getting a pair that had spring and rubber on the bottom of my boots. Those worked well on snow and ice, but some of my walking is on a road which took a toll on the rubber. The ICEtrekkers work much better for me. If I need another pair of these I would buy the ICEtrekkers.

3.0 out of 5 stars Rubber Breaks and Metal Rusts, December 3, 2010
By
I purchased these to put on my Salomon winter boots to wear for snow clearing when my first pair of YakTrax broke. For pushing snow around I did feel they worked really well except that snow really balled up on the metal when it was really cold and Within a couple of weeks of use a metal rivet had pulled through the rubber and the chains were flopping. I'm not sure if this is typical or just a faulty pair, but I'm going back to Yak Trax this year because I was able to get a couple of pairs of Yaktrax pro from Eddie Bauer for less than the price of one pair of ICE Trekkers. I would have returned them, but unfortunately the shop in town had burned down!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not safe walking, February 8, 2011

Icetrekkers do not grip hard, slick ice. I will return product if I can figure out how to do so. My husband has a pair of ice walkers that are like wire coils. The sharp edges of these chain-like coils grip the ice and make walking safe. I thought we had the same product. But we definitely do not! Do NOT recommend the icetrekkers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great!, January 22, 2011

I bought this as a Christmas present for my step-father who is always slipping and sliding around while trying to work. We tend to get a lot of snow around here, and it eventually gets packed down into a really smooth surface that ends up being horribly slippery. These fit his boots perfectly and are much better than the other brands I saw available. Because the bottom is entire made from metal and not plastic like other brands, I see these lasting for a long time!

Unlike some of the other ice handling pull-ons, these have steel chains that cover the entire bottom of the shoe or boot. There is always some steel in contact with the ice giving improved traction. They go on relatively easily, although centering the chains can take some effort. The rubber strap keeps the chains tight on the boot without any protruding parts to interfere with walking.

2.0 out of 5 stars Has poor grip on ice, March 16, 2010

This review is from: ICEtrekkers Shoe Chains (1 Pair) (Sports)
I slipped and fell on ice while trying this shoe chain for the first time. Returned immediately. I found that the ICEtrekkers Shoe Diamond Grip worked much better for me.

This is a great product. My shoe size is 8 and I bought the mediums. The medium size fits well over a hiking boot, yet it still stretches over a snow boot. On both types of shoes the chain has no slack in it. For a size 8 shoe the large size chains would fit only on a snow boot, but would likely be loose for a hiking boot. If you wear shoes larger than 8 and you plan on using these only for snow boots I would recommend getting the large size.

These chains really give you traction and grip on ice. I would recommend this brand to anyone. i have tried the cheaper brands and the chains are loose. The chains stay tight on this one and are comfortable to walk in.
