5.0 out of 5 stars Kenneth, did you read the troubleshooting section?
The troubleshooting section of the instruction manual states, "Verify that the cigarette lighter is electrically active when ignition key is in the OFF position, if not, connect direct to the battery as described above." Did you do that?

3.0 out of 5 stars Panel Works Like It Should
Solar trickle charger works fine. However, ICP DOES NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE PRODUCT SUPPORT on its website. Therefore, if you buy this item, you're on your own!

The modern cars that I am familiar with do not have a cigarette lighter that is "active" when the key is OFF. You might have to connect this directly to the battery to make it work.

If your cigarette lighters aren't "active", this couldn't have been charging, or discharging, your batteries.

I just saw some of the reviews. Some people have nothing better to do than be nasty so I decidid to write my own. I bought this item from Amazon a few months ago and its first winter that my car doesn't go dead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great, March 5, 2005

This little solar charger works great (if you read instructions first, you'll probably need to use battery connections instead of the lighter-plug connection). Hopefully people don't expect this product to cure electrical-short problems or bad-battery problems. I also used another one to keep my rider mower fully charged, even after sitting all winter. The panel is fastened to the side of my building, and extended leads go to whatever I want in my shop.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great. Set it up and forget about it., August 30, 2009

I purchased a used Battery SaverPlus for $20 and hooked it up to a battery pack on an electric start Toro lawnmower. After only 4 hours the battery was at full charge. It's working great and it's nice to have the red light that blinks when it's charging. I'll probably end up using it to keep my diesel generator start-up battery charged up this winter. I can run my whole house with my solar array and it's good to have peace of mind by having small devices like the Battery SaverPlus for lawnmowers and generators. Solar is the way to go.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't Work - Company doesn't respond to emails, November 23, 2004

I bought a new car, and realized that I was going to thereby not use my other two cars very much. So, I bought TWO "Battery Saver Plus" units and plugged them in to the cigarette lighters of both cars. The LED was flashing on both units.

This was 9 days ago. Both batteries were charged up and both cars had been used recently at that time.

Today, my wife needed to use the new car at the same time I needed to go somewhere, so I tried both of the other cars, and both batteries were dead - in only 9 days.

Clearly the Battery Saver Plus unit actively drained both batteries. Either there is a flaw in a whole batch of production, or else the product not only doesn't work - but is actually counterproductive.

I sent the above to the company's customer service email address on their web site twice from two different email addresses, and no response days later.

By the way, the two vehicles are totally different, so having two different situations clearly eliminates the possibility of the fault being with the vehicles or batteries.

1.0 out of 5 stars TRICK charger as it did not trickle charge!, February 9, 2005
This review is from: ICP Solar 04021 BatterySaver Plus (Lawn & Patio)
Item was purchased to trickle charge an semi-low battery. This car had a hood problem that prevented access to battery. This was ideal solution IT SEEMED until hood could be repaired. Plugged BatterySaverPlus into cigarette lighter. The LED came on, so it was placed exposed to excellent daytime sunshine for more than a week. Absolutely no change in battery weak response. No worse but certainly no better. Do yourself a favor and spend the money elsewhere (say on a new battery).
