5.0 out of 5 stars Saved my car's battery all winter so far..
Installed the 2W on my classic car. For past 5 years I've had to go out and run it for about an hour per month but I put the solar charger on it and have not had to do it. Left it for 4 months and just went to test it. Battery is perfect. When I bought it I called their tech support who guided me to what I needed. Great product, great company.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy. Drained battery!
The BatterySaver SE2 actually drained my battery. I hooked it up directly to my battery (they don't mention in the description that if your cigarette lighter doesn't work when your car is off, then this charger won't either...makes sense though). When I hooked it up my battery had enough juice to crank my car. 5 days later when I went to start the car again, the battery...

5.0 out of 5 stars No more battery problems, January 27, 2005

I'm actually writting this review on behalf of both my wife and myself. We're a senior couple (but still young at heart!) from Portland, OR. We have an old Chevrolet Chevette that we use once in a while to pick up some groceries, but mostly it just sits out in the driveway. A few months ago we were having problems starting the car. Our mechanic said it was because we didn't use it enough and that the battery would drain itself. He was the one that suggested the BatterySaver solar charger to keep our battery charged while it was not in use. Amazon had exactly what we needed and it works great! Our old Chevy starts up everytime! All we had to do is put it on the dash and plug it into the cigarette lighter. Real easy!

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy. Drained battery!, January 5, 2005

The BatterySaver SE2 actually drained my battery. I hooked it up directly to my battery (they don't mention in the description that if your cigarette lighter doesn't work when your car is off, then this charger won't either...makes sense though). When I hooked it up my battery had enough juice to crank my car. 5 days later when I went to start the car again, the battery was totally dead. Even if it didn't work at all, my battery shouldn't have been totally dead. It was not hooked up backwards, and I live in Florida. It was sunny all week. After my experience I found another review of a different model charger from this same company. That model also drained the car's battery. I would stay away from ICP solar all together.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad experience, December 8, 2004
This review is from: ICP Solar 04027 BatterySaver SE2 (Lawn & Patio)
I bought the BATTERYSAVERSE2 with high expectations. I had the unit installed through my cigarette lighter. After about a month I checked the battery and it needed charging. I charged it . I then connected the BATTERYSAVERSE2 directly to the battery through the supplied cables. In about a month I checked the battery again and it still needed charging. I charged it again. This time I called customer service and was told the problem might be : my battery might be old, or maybe I needed to get the 5 watt BATTERYSAVER. I do have an old battery so I thought this could be my problem. However, getting a higher wattage BATTERYSAVER seemed overkill since the BATTERYSAVERSE2 is built around the premise that it will charge an automobile battery. ... I decided to return the unit. I give credit to AMAZON for processing my request for a refund quickly. If I had to go through ICP SOLAR it would have taken longer since they want a fax of the original sales invoice to send you a return authorization. The last time I called ICP SOLAR'S customer service they even referred me to a NON toll free number.

2.0 out of 5 stars Truely a trickle, November 9, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: ICP Solar 04027 BatterySaver SE2 (Lawn & Patio)
I have used a very similar product before with good results. I take the battery out of my boat between infrequent uses, and attack to the solar charger mounted to a window in my garage. The last time I used the battery, it was dead. I was able to charge it and use it later, so I believe the battery was not the problem.

Received different panel than what was advertised.

Will not work when attached to windshield or any tinted glass; requires direct sunlight.

Shipped in a couple weeks.

Works fine.

This unit did absolutely nothing for my Lexus RX300 (2000). Direct sunlight -- I live in Southern California -- produced zero effect. I'm on my second battery in 12 months -- keeps dying, even with this product installed.
