I purchased the Idapt I4 charging station after reading a good review in the New York Times. When I first started using it, I was very satisfied, and even my wife, who had been skeptical about buying a product from a relatively unknown company, came around to liking it. The setup was perfect for us -- we could charge my work blackberry, my personal galaxy nexus, and my wife's iphone at the same time, and I could plug my wireless headset to the USB jack available on the side of the dock.

All I can say now is that it was good while it lasted. After about a month of use, two of the ports stopped working. The dock was never subject to any physical abuse -- in fact, it had always been in the same spot and never even moved. The fact that it simply stopped working without any triggering event was of course very disturbing. I proceeded to email customer support at the same email address I used for a question I had before making the purchase. I was hopeful about getting good support because when I had asked the question before my purchase, I had gotten a very prompt response. But this time around, when it was about a problem I was having and not about a question I needed answered before making the purchase, I did not get any response whatsoever. Needless to say, this sequence of events validated everything my wife had said about the risks of buying from a company that is not well-established -- the product turned out to be poorly manufactured, and customer support was non-existent. Finally, just in case there was any doubt, the charging jack on my Nexus became faulty and now I am unable to charge it with my original charger. The Nexus had been problem-free since I bought it in February, but one month's use on this dock apparently messed up the jack.

I carry a lot of devices (iPad, iPhone, Blachberry, Jawbone etc) that need charging on a daily basis. Since most of them are either micro/mini usb, iPhone dock, I used to carry at least 2 cords with me all the time and my desk used to be perpetually cluttered with all the wires. With idapt, all the wires are now gone and all I have with me is just one box that sits on the table and charges all the gadgets that I carry. Very simple to use and works like a charm.

It came with six tips (for charging lot of random devices) which is a boon (for charging a occasion nokia etc) when friends come over. The only gripe I have is the there is no place to store the charging tips and hence there is a chance of misplacing the extra tips. It would have been nice if there was a way to plug the non-charging tips in the box for storage as well.

Overall am very happy with the product and would highly recommend it.

After seeing all the positive reviews, I couldn't wait for this to arrive. I was severely disappointed to discover that it simply does not work as advertised. I bought this after several reviewers mentioned that they used the side USB port to charge an iPad in addition to other devices. I was planning on using the Micro USB attachment to charge my Galaxy Note II, the iPhone connector to charge my iPod Touch, and the mini USB connector to charge my Nintendo DS on occasion.

I was sad to discover that while it did charge the devices, it just did it very, very slowly. My Galaxy Note II only went from a 60% to an 94% charge after being on the dock for roughly 8 hours. (It only takes an hour or two to get back to a full charge from 60%~ using a cable.) Additionally, it struggled to charge my iPad when another device was connected. If the iPad was charging alone via the USB port, it would be fine. However, once I connected a second device, the iPad would note "Not Charging" -- probably because it couldn't pull the power it needed.

So I'm disappointed to report that I returned this item two days after receiving it (wanted to try it for two nights to make sure it wasn't a fluke - it wasn't). If you're planning on using this to charge an iPad in addition to other devices, I'd say pass. Also, if your phone has a large battery -- like my Galaxy Note II does -- it will take the dock a long time to finish the job.

Sadly, I'm still looking for a solution to charge multiple devices at once, and I'd recommend staying away from the iDapt i4 Charger.

Excellent product. The kids were home from college this summer when I purchased it as a last resort to "cord thievery" rampant in our home. Not to mention we had the need for 4 or 5 different ends on the various devices around the house.

I placed the station in a central location and explained its purpose. I can't explain how surprised I was when I got up one morning and all the stations were actually occupied. It's modular design allows easy substitution for every charging tip you can imagine. The 6 tips that came with the device met all our needs although there are many more available. The additional USB 2amp built in plug works great for the iPad. The kids thought it was cool!

My only complaint is that you must manually turn the entire station off from a switch located conveniently on the top when it's not in use. I know there must be a "Green" solution to this and the wasted energy it uses just sitting there. All the individual ports glow when the station is on. But if it is entirely off and you plug in a device you wouldn't know that. And the device would continue to drain, I suspect. ( I know it sure wont charge!) Thus the lack of the fifth star.

The phones/devices we used were easily placed on the station and stayed in place once plugged in. They were easily removed. Obviously, some devices charge from the side and others the bottom. When there were three devices- an android phone, an old flip phone and an iPhone 4- placed on the station, with an IPad plugged in to the USB port, all charged promptly and did not interfere with each other physically. With its small footprint I would have thought that the various designs might have excluded another from plugging in.
