This review is from: IG-B01A: i.Trek Bike Mount for Garmin Nuvi 200, 200W, 250, 250W, 260, 260W, 270, 205, 205W, 255, 255W, 265T, 265WT, 275T, 500, 550, 750, 760, 770, 780 (Electronics)
I purchased this bike/motorcycle mount after reading the reviews which said that the GPS falls off upon hitting a hard bump. The first thing I did was tie a knot in the end of two rubber bands and then use the loop formed to push the rubber bands over the ball post. I then snapped the unit onto the ball and stretched the other loop of the rubber bands around the unit.
I found that my gps (Nuvi 400) did fall off the ball at first, however it stayed right there due to the rubber bands holding it. After a bit of adjustment of the rubber bands it stayed on the ball even off road, hitting really big bumps. Also, I found that the strap that goes around the handlebars which hold the attachment in place cannot be tightened enough to not have it slide around due to the weight of GPS. To remedy this, I drlled a small hole through the strap into the handlebar and put a small screw in to keep it from slipping. This worked fine. All in all, the bike mount worked as I expected and I did enjoy having it on my bike as I did a 30 mile trip on the canals in Phoenix AZ. Seems that manufacturers would have thought of these two obvious problems. If you do not use rubber bands, and you try to put it on a bicycle, you can expect to see your GPS go bouncing and sliding on the ground. The ball mount is not strong enough.

Not Secure Enough for Most Bikes,
This review is from: IG-B01A: i.Trek Bike Mount for Garmin Nuvi 200, 200W, 250, 250W, 260, 260W, 270, 205, 205W, 255, 255W, 265T, 265WT, 275T, 500, 550, 750, 760, 770, 780 (Electronics)
This is not a reasonable GPS mount for a bicycle. While the item itself is sturdy enough, the ball-mounts on most GPS brackets are not strong enough to survive the kinds of jolts to which typical bicycle handlebars are subject. Three miles of riding was all it took to send my Nuvi skidding across the pavement. This particular mount also positions the GPS way out from the handlebars, amplifying vibration and calling attention to itself.

I have a Panavise mount in my vehicle and this mount works really well to hold the GPS to it. It is simple to use and seems to hold very well. The picture does not really show how this works. The strap comes out so that you can wrap it around things, then you pull it tight. It really holds well.
Update: This WAS a very nice mount until the strap broke. There does not seem to be any easy way to replace the strap. It lasted a couple of months under 2 years. There are thin spots for the strap, but there are also cracks in other areas in the strap. I went to my vehicle and found my GPS on the center console. If you use this, you need to constantly check to status of the strap since otherwise your GPS could be damaged. I think that the all metal mounts are a better longterm option.

Received this mount today. Easily mounts to handlebar or stem and does not slip. Put GPS (Garmin 200 nuvi )on mount and took it for a ride.Very sturdy, does not vibrate too much,. Good on bumps, wouldn't try a curb at speed.Very adjustable. Set GPS to dashboard screen, tells you more than an cycle speedo can tell you at 1 glance. Went and ordered 2 more when I came back from my ride.

This unit is a lot smaller and less bulky than I thought it would be from the pictures provided. I have only used the unit for a couple days, but have put about 80 miles on my motorcycle with it, and it works great! No problems at all, and the gps didn't shift at all while riding (my bike doesn't have a lot of vibrations though). I hope that it keeps working this well in the future, I am definately satisfied with the purchase.
Unit was shipped quickly. I have posted a few pictures of this product in use on my bike to help other customers get an idea of what it looks like on the bike.

Don't pay more or look further for a Nuvi GPS handlebar mount. Simple, inexpensive and functional.

I have used this mount for two bike rides. It is easy to put on and remove from my bike's handlebars and performed fine. However, because it uses the standard garmin ball in cradle design, I am constantly nervous that a road bump will send it flying. This concern was confirmed when I stopped riding and used my bike's kickstand and my bike fell over. The garmin with cradle flew off the mount's ball. Luckily the bike was on the grass so no harm occurred to the gps. But if it had hit a sidewalk, it could have been toast. Obviously you could make the claim that no mount is perfect and this uses the standard garmin issue cradle. So you don't have to spend much money to get your gps on your bike. But I would only use this mount again if I glued the cradle to the mount. I think this is a good solution to the problem. Unfortunately for me, there are no replacement cradles on the market for the nuvi 500. You can find replacements for the 200 series cheaply on ebay. Because I need my nuvi 500's cradle for the car, I can't glue it so I have ordered a Ram cradle and bike mount. I know the Ram cradle is secure since I use one on my Honda Silverwing.

The mount attached with a large rubber strap that ratchets until tight. I secured it initially around a brake cable and wondered why I could not get it tight, because it had shifted when riding. I took it off later and correctly ran it around the handlebars. Did a 32 mile mostly road and some trail ride (serious vibrations) and a few days later the mount was laying on the floor of my garage. The rubber strap had simply broken. If feels oddly hard (vs flexible) for what it does, and I suspect manufacturing defect. Have requested an exchange. Worked well enough otherwise.
5/2: Emailed vendor for RMA who instead simply sent a new unit free of charge with a few days of my email. So, great customer service! New unit is installed. Would now kick up rating to 3 if I knew how. Net: odd that first one broke but vendor made it right asap. Happy for now.

Good idea but it just doesn't work,

This item seemed like a good idea, for the most part it appears to be well made, had a camera attachment which was interesting. The problem is that it just dosen't secure to the handle bars tight enough. As soon as you hit the least vibration the thing rotates and your gps is looking at the ground. The rubber pull strap does not lock into the lever. The plastic release/lock lever gets easily fatigued after a couple of releases and no longer locks.
If the mount had a secure screw mount it woudl be fine, the rubber band is a failure. Would not recommend this mount.

This product will not stay upright. This is very annoying on paved trails, forget the offroad trails. I wish it gripped better. I would not recommend this.
