This CD will stay in your player for a while,

Where "girl band" country music is concerned, this project is a stand out!!! It is extremely upbeat throughout, with the few slower moments precisely placed. This makes for a great cd to put in the car player and leave for days. Just start it where you left off the previous trip and you'll be incredibly surprised by the variable contexts this cd can emit. Try this one, you won't be disappointed.

Kinleys II - Excellent Effort,
By Richard (Strongsville, OH United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: II (Audio CD)
The Kinleys have exceeded expectations of their fans with this new album. Much more interesting than the first, while (like the Dixie Chicks) keeping with genuine country tradition. If you prefer authentic country (not "pop crossover" like Faith Hill) you'll love this one. If you like Dixie Chicks, you'll love this one. Buy it.

The Kinleys show no sophomore album jitters...,
By Daniel "Showoff" (Ruffin, NC USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: II (Audio CD)
I had listened to the debut release from Heather and Jennifer which really delivered what country music should be all about. It took me a while to finally purchase this second album because I couldn't find it in Wal Mart or any other music stores for that matter. I was lucky to find this title at a good price. Anyway, the album gets a good start with the first track, "She Ain't the Girl For You", which is about a friends pity towards a man who tolerates his girlfriend no matter what he puts her through. I believe it was also a single as well. My other favorite songs on this CD includes "I'm In", which was also a single and recieved a fair amount of airplay on the radio, "Me Too" also has a good country vibe to it. Its about how you can relate to someone who has been through heartaches and disappointments in but it isn't a ballad. "Lovers" is good, funny song with lyrics similar to "She Ain't the Girl For You". The lyric in the song "Lovers" I find hilarious is "In a fit of anger at the horseshoe lounge, she took a swing and she knocked that hussy down." Its about a couple who has alot of problems and "ain't it a wonder, why they call them lovers". One song that should've been a single is "Here". Its a good love song its not fast and it ain't slow but sure is great. The album ends on a good note with "Somebody's Watching Over Me" which was featured on the "Touched By An Angel" soundtrack so you know it delivers a good message of inspiration. You will not regret this purchase. As it says in my title, the Kinleys show no sophomore album jitters. They prove that they still knew what to do after the success of their debut album. So I give this 4 stars!

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm in",

The Kinleys spohomore effort starts off strong with tracks like the woman's anthem "She Ain't the Girl for You", the Georgia Middleman penned "I'm In" and "That's Gonna Mess You up", but then trails off to mediocrity like "Yeah, yeah, yeah", "Lovers", and "Me Too". One other notable song on the disc is "Somebody's Out There Watching", the inspirational song that was also the sisters' contribution to the Touched By An Angel soundtrack. This CD is filled with a lot of pop sounding music, leaving me to wonder what direction it is the Kinleys are wanting to go with their music.

Talented twins ho-hum sophomore effort,
By
This review is from: II (Audio CD)
Sibling harmony acts are certainly nothing new to Country music. From the Delmores to the Everlys, to newer acts like the Delevantes and Thompson Brothers, the special bond of blood relations have coursed through the industry. Even the novelty of twins has been played out in bands like Scotland's Proclaimers, and acts like the Hagar twins. The Kinleys continue the tradition, plying their unusually similar voices and phrasings across a variety of pop and new country tunes. On the one hand, they're talented vocalists individually, on the other, the combination of their voices doesn't add up to a great deal more than the parts. In some cases it simply sounds like double-tracked recordings rather than an interplay between two complementary vocalists. The material they've picked is the typical new-country amalgam of catchy tunes in a variety of derivative flavors. The opener, "She Ain't the Girl For You," with a sly dobro lead-in has a bluesy Bonnie Raitt vocal, but doesn't capture the actual grit of Raitt "I'm In" has an appealing interplay of vocals, more reminiscent of power pop bands like the Greenberry Woods than country acts, and "If Ever I Needed You" provides the power-ballad moment, with a surging, pleading chorus and a rock guitar solo. Elsewhere the twins play strong and strident ("That's Gonna Mess You Up"), verge into Whitney Houston balladry touched by steel ("You're Still Here"), and lend their voices to dobro-led Dixie Chick pop ("Me Too"). Also included is the hit single, "Somebody's Out There Watchin'," originally recorded for TV's "Touched By An Angel" soundtrack. It's a thoroughly professional effort, but aside from a few tracks, it doesn't present a particularly individual personality.

Twin sisters Heather and Jennifer's appearance is misleading; this is powerful country/soul with a fun pop feel to it. They pack an emotional wallop, intimate and familiar at the same time with "She Aint The Girl for You." That tune sounds like a crossover success, likewise "You're Still Here" and "If Ever I Needed You." "I'm In" shines also, however "Somebody's Out There..." was the only song from II to reach the country top 20. This is an amalgam of styles, representative of girls from Philadelphia moving to Nashville.
Their debut album was stunning, but this one may be even better. They sing about desire, and you feel it. Their harmonies are instantly recognizable. This CD is fun and energetic. This is similar to Faith Hill, but I like it more. They've got some grit, but it isn't Tanya Tucker or Gretchen Wilson; its poppier than that. Some reviewers have compared this with early Dixie Chicks, but I'm not sure. Its hard to catagorize, so I won't try. Not every cut is equal, but its a strong album in every way. I recommend this highly and hope for the Kinleys return with more expressive, passionate music.

I love this CD! Although many people have never heard of the Kinleys, they soon will. The more I listen to the songs the more I like them. "I'm In" is my all time favorite song and "She Ain't the Girl For You" is in the Top Ten. The girls' voices are a pleasure to hear. I can't wait until the Kinleys come out with their next album. Outstanding CD!!...

A Definite Keeper!,

Heather and Jennifer Kinley's second album is proof that not all artists are cursed by the "sophomore jinx." This duo will give you goose bumps by their beautiful blends of harmony that only siblings can master. The album starts off rocking with their hit, "She Ain't the Girl for You," then into the catchy "I'm In" and never misses a beat throughout the entire album. As a closing song, they deliver a masterful performance from their 1999 single, "Somebody's Out There Watching." All of these songs could/should be released to country radio. The cd is just that good!

I admit, when I first listened to this cd I was a bit disappointed. However, after listening to it a few times, I really got into the songs, and now I love every song on the cd. The Kinleys have sort of a different sound than other country groups out there, but it works, and they have created some beautiful songs, and some really fun songs. This is a great cd to start the day off with, because so many of the songs are upbeat. I believe that this cd is even better than their first, and I highly recommend purchasing it.

Perfect Harmony,
By Paul T. Marshall (Roswell, GA United States) - See all my reviews

The Kinleys have one of, if not, the best harmonies of any act out there since the Judds. Not only does this album demonstrate that, but also shows off their song writing skills. The songs are cleverly written, upbeat, and even add an occasional "jazz" flavor to it. A recipe that has "success" written all over it. This is the type of cd that you pop into your cd player, and leave it in for awhile. GET THIS ALBUM--It's a piece of art!
