5.0 out of 5 stars Best Yet
This is the best MATSOD cd yet. It brings alot more of the band's "southern" roots, which, personally, i feel is what truly defines the concept Maylene strives for. Overall, 5 stars. If you want a truly different cd that you wont take out of your CD player, purchase III.

3.0 out of 5 stars I'd five Maylene's II a IV, therefore this is a little bland
If I were from the south, I might say finally. All that other junk is made in New York City, or L.A. But I'm not. This album is a little softer than II. I hope that IV (yes I am a prophet) is more my style, while it must remain southern rock.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another amazing release from Maylene, June 24, 2009
This review is from: III (Audio CD)
If your into Maylene, this album is another hit from the band. The first album was great, the second was awesome, and the third is just as great. They still have the same sound pretty much in most songs, but some are a bit different which are great. Some having Dallas singing like he used to for Underoath instead of all the yelling which is cool. Just a shock was the first song that was leaked and it is great. My favorite songs have to be "Last Train Coming" and "Step Up" and "Listen Close"....Listen Close is the one where you can actually hear him more clearly than his other lyrics. It is nothing short of amazing. Last Train Coming has a very cool chorus and the classic Maylene verses. Step Up has Dallas singing with a different tone which is very cool. If you liked The first and second albums, definately get this album, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars If Lynyrd Skynyrd did play metal..., June 24, 2009
This review is from: III (Audio CD)
...and Ronnie and/or Johnny Van Zant gargled gravel, they would sound like Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. Thank God Dallas Taylor was "asked to leave" Underoath, otherwise we would not have 3 fantastic releases from this band. Not quite as hardcore as the previous 2, yet no less rocking, MATSOD branch out with a more melodic album that will get stuck to your brain for days (Just try and get the chorus of Just a Shock out of your head). A few banjos thrown in with a bit of clean singing from Dallas along with their Skynyrd from hell 3 guitar attack and you've got an excellent release that in the end unfortunately, will only see the light of day for metal music lovers willing to experience more than your everyday hardcore metal release. Definitely one of my favorite cds I've purchased this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great album from a great band!, June 24, 2009

Not much else to be said here. This album is awesome. A couple songs have a different feel than the last two albums, but they are good just the same. If you're a newcomer to MATSOD then I suggest you just go ahead and buy all three albums and experience one of the more awesome "under the radar" bands out there. I love this band and their original sound, you're not going to find many gems out there like this. Buy this album!

Can't get enough of Dallas! MATSOD is one of my top 5 bands! Such amazing talent, and one of the best live shows ever! This album makes me feel like I'm back home for our fall festival, only with tattoos and distortion!

Once again Maylene and the Sons of Disaster have produced another magnificent album that shows the harder side of christian rock. This time Dallas and the boys have gone back to their roots and mixed in some unusual string instruments in a modern heavy rock band. Be sure to pick this album up. You wont regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Step Up to MSOD!, August 6, 2009

I put this CD on and heard crickets chirping and then some banjo playing, and I thought, did Amazon send me an Earl Scruggs album by mistake? Well, I kept listening and the music "steps up" into some real hard guitar and excellent gravelly vocals! These backwoods boys have formed a big band and put out a well-layered amount of heavy string work. I first heard MSOD on RadioU in Columbus, OH, and immediately liked "Step Up (I'm On It)" which was rated by call-in votes at #2. One reviewer compared the style to "If Lynyrd Skynyrd had played metal," I'm thinking, wasn't that Molly Hatchet? Anyway, don't be afraid of a banjo in a metal band, more strings are a plus! MSOD will bring you to your knees!

5.0 out of 5 stars TRUE SOUTHERN METAL!!!, August 4, 2009
This review is from: III (Audio CD)
This album is THE definition of 100% pure southern metal/hard rock. "III" is definetly my favorite Maylene album and is the most "southern rockish" out of all their albums. There really isn't another band like Maylene out there as far as I'm concerned and they prove it with their latest work.

My Top 5: (In order as they appear on the album)

1. "Waiting On My Deathbed"
2. "Settling Scores By Burning Bridges"
3. "Step Up (I'm On It)"
4. "Listen Close"
5. "Harvest Moon Hanging"

***"Waiting" and "Step Up" have banjos in them.***

SUPPORT SOUTHERN METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
