4.0 out of 5 stars This sucks so good
Oh brother. Dickie and Mickey Moist strike again.

Mickey (aka Mickey Melchiondo, aka Dean Ween) is one of the founders of Ween, and along with Dickey (no idea), he gets his hard rocks off in a major way on this album. Reminiscent of some of the darker moments on Ween's "The Pod," Turbonegro, and maybe early Metallica, this album kicks ass, if nothing else...

There are a few good songs on here- when the duo remain focused and articulated in their hellbilly vibe the sweetly distorted riffs actually compliment the vulgar, drugged out lyrics. Oftentimes though the songs feel gimmicky and cheap when the Moistboyz formula is all too apparent, as opposed to the really good songs on the album, which...

Oh brother. Dickie and Mickey Moist strike again.

Mickey (aka Mickey Melchiondo, aka Dean Ween) is one of the founders of Ween, and along with Dickey (no idea), he gets his hard rocks off in a major way on this album. Reminiscent of some of the darker moments on Ween's "The Pod," Turbonegro, and maybe early Metallica, this album kicks ass, if nothing else. Loud guitars with occassional heroics, screaming lyrics that are hilarious when intelligible, and huge reverb drum machines frame the sound, which more or less makes me feel like I'm driving around in a Camaro after taking bad acid.

This music is not for the casual Ween fan, or the weak of heart. As the dust jacket warns, "using this product may cause smoking." If you have doubts, stay away.

If you are among the chosen, well, you know who you are.

Nice, tasty beef of rock with much gravy on top. There's much fresh blood in it. I like it!

Moistboyz are the salvation of modern music. If you like rock-your-...-in-the-dirt music, then Moistboyz are for you. Production of the first two albums leaves much to be desired, but the songs are still good. I heard a remake that will combine the two recordings is in the making. III is a must have. Best tracks are: The Reaper, The Tweaker, and The Walker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good ol' American Rock & Roll!!!, August 11, 2005

Man, This is Rock & Roll to the max! Good ol' Hard hitten, in your face, guitar screaming drum smashin' ROCK! Don't mistake this for your pro-to-typical mainsteam rock and roll...this is hard hitten direct from someones backyard, drink some beers, put on a wife beater and ROCK OUT! Also this album is funny. But by Funny I don't mean that it's a party prop...this is smart funny. Trust me, you'll listen over and over again, with or with out your friends, cause it's seriously addictive. In The Valley of the Sun and Black train could easily pass for todays MTV played rock songs, they actually sound like, well, you know, they should be huge hits. The rest of the songs are in a catagory all their own...Eventhough I love those two songs I just mentioned, I only mentioned them becuase they sound the most like as if you didn't know who the band was, you would probably like it!

Take a chance, If you like hard hitten real American Rock, get it!

Dang, I can't say enough good things. This is similar to the last two albums with the exception that it seems with this album they actually take themselves seriously as a band rather than a novelty. This tends to lean more to some 80's type nonstop rock then the hardcore punk-metal of before. It's all nice and good drinking no bullsh@t rock regardless. Do yourself a favor.

5.0 out of 5 stars this is HARD, MEAN, and HILARIOUS, August 20, 2003
By

I find myself listening to this over and over. It's so satisfying on so many different levels. There's the crystalline, uncluttered production, the searing guitars, screeching vocals, horrifyingly funny lyrics like "get a pair of pliers and pull out all my teeth, i'm never gonna need 'em if i'm never gonna eat!" from The Tweaker. These boys are truly out on the edge where few bands dare venture... but all that aside, it's just hilarious and totally fun to play for people. Let's hope for a Moistboyz IV!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dick & Mick rock!!!!, February 16, 2006
This review is from: III (Audio CD)
This cd is not for the faint of heart. Mickey (Dean Ween) totally shreds through these 2 minute punk songs. The vocals at times are hard to distinguish, but stay true to their sound. Tweaker and the walker are some what offensive, but happen to be my favorite tracks. Very solid music and lyrics, just expect really raw angst at it's very best.

This review is from: III (Audio CD)
sorry i cant write a long indepth review. All I can say is that this cd is absolutley great. Like others have said it is hard rock with great guitar work. I have bought a number of cds from here, and this was the only one I felt compelled to write a review on(which means alot cause im lazy and even a good cd wouldnt warrant me telling you to get it). If you are looking at this page right now you are obviously curious about moistboyz, so just do yourself a HUGE favor and buy this cd right now!

Totally in the same vein as the previous 2 albums, but nicely evolved. Its everything I could have hoped for! The boyz have definitely done it again...Not much more you can say. Just 100% pure American rock and roll. Well worth the wait...

Oftentimes though the songs feel gimmicky and cheap when the Moistboyz formula is all too apparent, as opposed to the really good songs on the album, which demonstrates Ween's extraordinary abilities to borrow from different genres. I like the cynical ode to rock they are riding, I just wish they could own up to the concept a little more rather then rock on constant autopilot.
