5.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous book for the *REAL* IIS Admin!, September 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: IIS 4 Administrator's Handbook (Paperback)
If you have any desire to setup an e-commerce server, Quake server, Real G2 Server, or anything that is geared towards high-demands (especially where most people would turn to Unix) then you need this book!

Sure, running a single web site in IIS is easy! But have you ever tried to take advantage of the powerful SMTP server in IIS? How about Site Server Express for statistical analysis? Virtual directories on multiple servers for load balancing? You probably have not.. This book is worth its weight in GOLD. If youy want to be a master of IIS and build high end, real world production servers for the Internet, get this book!

2.0 out of 5 stars From IDG? Should have been called "IIS4 For Dummies", July 23, 2000
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: IIS 4 Administrator's Handbook (Paperback)
I'm beginning to believe that there really are no thoughtful books on this subject. While the last few chapters are kind of neat, as one favorable reviewer wrote, most of the book seems to have been written by the author opening up the various ISM configuration dialogs and simply listing the options. There is no insight, no examples or anecdotes. He leaves you on your own to do your own explorations. I maight as well have saved my money and stuck with MSDN.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource - with hard-to-find info, February 19, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: IIS 4 Administrator's Handbook (Paperback)
I found this book extremely useful, and the information found in the last few chapters - which provided hard-to-find information on serious server configuration and performance - was especially enlightening. Information is quick and easy to find, and the structure of the book seems written specifically for people who are working in the IIS trenches. I always keep this book nearby.
