I got mine a couple days ago from Amazon. Here's the short version:

Pros: GREAT audio quality, easy to use, very light, the headphone jack is a really nice touch.

Cons: The included app's sharing options do not include Dropbox, a *major* flaw in my opinion. Can't quite figure out how to make the app completely quit.

And the long version:

So, basically, the hardware is great. The software, not so much. I still haven't quite figured out how to make it work with GarageBand yet, but I'll keep trying. The included app (or rather, the free one from IK, called iRig Recorder) that you can download from the App Store to go along with it is, however, something of a mess. It records well enough - that isn't the problem. The export options, however, are clunky. Export by email requires you to register an account with IK, which is no fun. No Dropbox support is an almost unbelievable omission. In addition, there doesn't appear to be any way to actually completely quit this app short of restarting your iPhone - when you press the home button, it displays a big red banner under your menubar that shows that it's still active, and that won't go away. If there's any way to make this go away without restarting your iPhone, I haven't found it. Very annoying.

Anyhow, I still highly recommend this hardware. The sound quality is really first-rate - amazingly so for a microphone this size - and is incredibly feature-packed for a device this size. The extended neck of the device is very thoughtful for those who use cases, as I do. The styling is great. The smallness and lightness of the mic is amazing.

That said, it needs better software. I'll try getting GarageBand working with it. Or, IK, just release a better version of your own app.

EDIT: I've been trying the mic with a free iOS audio recording/editing app called Hokusai, with some good results. This may be the best app to use with the Mic Cast.

Easy fit - nice long pin - very good sound. Much, much better than using the built in speakers. I use this to do quick records with acoustic guitar and voice and use it to do quick records of my Irish pub band. Really worth getting to do basic recording. The sound quality and construction are solid.

To date, the iRig Cast is the best iOS microphone/app combo I've used. I've also used the Blue Mikey (1st gen), Edutige EIM-003, and Tascam IM2. I fiind the iRig Cast's sound qualityto be excellent and its app to be reliable and not taxing to my iPhone 4S.

The Blue Mikey has a similarly good sound, but is bulkier. The Tascam IM2's app presented problems for 2 out of 3 iPhones (4 and 4S) that we tested on. The Edutige is more compact, but the sound quality - while okay for lectures - is not good enough for podcast interviews (our primary interest).

The headphone port is an excellent feature and allows direct monitoring.

Be aware that the pickup pattern on this mike is fairly directional (although not as isolated as a shotgun mike), so it's of limited use where you would want an omni mike.

Things that prevent this from getting a 5-star review from me:

1. Feels kind of delicate.

2. No pre-made windscreen/pop filter available (easy enough to make one from a foam filter for dynamic mike, but that's additional trouble)

3. Sits flush to the phone when attached, meaning that you can't keep an Otterbox-style case on your phone and use the iRig Cast at the same time.

However, I do find these to be reasonbly minor quibbles. The iRig Cast is an excellent product when used with its accompanying app, and I do recommend it for people who need to do field interviews.

The video that got me sold was the following from IK Multimedia.
[...]
I got mine today and attached it to my iPhone 5.

1. Input volume is about 30~40% of internal mic
This makes it useless because even at HIGH gain setting, you will need to put it close(as in REAL CLOSE) to your lips or you will barely hear your voice in the recording.

2. Audio quality isn't much different from the internal mic.
The background is apparently less but it could be because the input volume is so much reduced.

I am not sure if this is compatibility issue with iPhone 5 but it does not work as demonstrated in the youtube video.
After experiencing this, I registered at their website to submit a support ticket and found a post in their forum reporting the same issue.

Not worth the money. Internal mic is way much better even though you get the background noise.
The point is, you won't be able to use this for recording other people because the mic has to be at around 10 cm from your lips. People won't like you sticking the mic to their mouth like that.

The mic is still a crap. gathering dust in my drawer.
I would like to comment on the headphone jack on the mic as some might think it is really a by-pass but it is not.
Trying to put it in to a good use, to get my investment back, I thought plugging in my headphone which does not have mic on it.
So, now I have a mic and can use my preferred headphone.
When I receive a call while listening to music, I don't have to take off my headphone!!!
But later realized that the sound quality through the headphone jack on this mic is bad.
The audio quality of it makes it meaningless to connect the headphones to it.
So, forget about listening to music through that jack if you are considering it.
It is really for monitoring purpose(excluding the audio quality).
