This is a heavyweight inkjet photo paper. I prefer the Smooth Gloss over the Smooth Pearl, but that is just my preference. The Smooth Gloss has a little deeper black and is a little sharper. I sometimes have difficulty locating the 13x19 Ilford Gallery Smooth Gloss paper at Amazon.com. The Smooth Pearl is always available. I especially like the price at Amazon.com and the free shipping. This places the paper at considerably below the cost in stores and from internet photo dealers. I generally receive the shipment several days before the estimated delivery date.

I'm rather picky about print quality and for the most part I've not cared much for digital prints, let alone today's "RC-esque" inkjet prints. That being said, I've found this paper to be exemplary. I typically print on fiber in a darkroom but needed a reasonably priced printer/paper combo for a color project and after trying some other brands that shall go unnamed in my rather simple Canon printer, I'm really taken aback. The prints I'm getting, to my eye, are quite warm, rich and film-looking. The finish is high-gloss but it's a very attractive high-gloss. Also, I'm not getting that usual plastic/digital/bright colors of a recognizable scene but sans any soul whatsoever vibe that seems so prevalent these days. The paper also has a nice, substantial weight and dries thoroughly as well as really quickly. Ilford really got it right with this stuff. I highly recommend this paper.

I did a lot of research on photo paper for my new Canon Pro9000 and decided to go with the Ilford Galerie in Smooth Gloss and I am happy that I did. The paper is strong and provides great printed photos that dry almost immediately. I purchased it on a Thursday and the paper was here by Monday with speedy shipping. Would I buy this again, absolutely!

Yes it is pricey, no doubt. However, this paper produces the most vivid colors. I use it for the most important prints to be exhibited. It's well worth the cost.

Tried this paper from Ilford becasue they didn't have a printer profile for thier regular Classic Gloss paper. Works well and is priced right. If you are trying for maximum print quality, go to their web site and download the printer profile and use it when doing your final print. Helps to have your monitor calibrated too.
