This book is a series of voting records and excerpts from speeches of members of Congress in the last couple of years leading up to WWII. It focuses on those members, largely Republicans, who were isolationists or otherwise opposed to getting involved. It is interesting to read speeches as late as November 1941 proclaiming that Japan would never attack the US. By that time the Japan armada was well on its way to Hawaii.

Much of the rhetoric is the same heard on Fox News today.

It would be interesting to have this book reprinted with a section explaining some of the history of the time for us who look at this from a distance of some 70 years. I'm sure I missed a lot as I don't know the code words used in the speeches.

4.0 out of 5 stars Where are the other copies :), September 1, 2010
This review is from: The ILLUSTRIOUS DUNDERHEADS. Introduction by Frank Sullivan. (Hardcover)
Great book, there are many instances of conservative corporate Republicans supporting the Third Reich before and during the second world war, and this book has many great quotes. Definitely something the Republicans would love to bury if they could in any way. Odd that's it's almost impossible to get a copy...conspiracy theories anyone :)
