This book is easy and very informative reading; it can be read in an evening. It covers all the essentials for international medical students and graduates, from visas to residency. There is much sound advice on taking the various exams, including how to prepare, when and where to take them and reasons for failure as well as some very interesting statistics on the pass rates. The chapters on obtaining a residency were likewise good, but left an element of suspense as to what the probabilities of success are.

This is one of the rare medical books that I did not want to put down after starting. This book gives high efficiency tips on doing well in USMLE, CSA, english exam, residency, and even discusses the cultural issues that nearly all IMGs face. It gives useful information on how to get good fellowship after residency. It 'talks' to you like a good coach subtly pointing out (IMG's) weaknesses, but also suggesting the ways to get stronger. The last time I had such great reading experience was while reading books by great Dale Carnegie or Stephen Covie. I am buying a few extra copies to gift out to my close friends.

I am very apprehensive about the process of residency training in the US, especially for an IMG like me. There were so many questions that I had no answer to. Countless hours on the Internet and numerous text and review books did not help. This book provided me the answers to all the questions I had, gave priceless info on how to excel in the USMLE and CSA exams, and in the residency in US. Thanks to the author for this 'encyclopedia for the international medical graduates'.

I really like the book. It outlines many key steps needed for residency application. I think it will be helpful if it includes details about some of the minimum requiremetns for each residency program,...Otherwise it is pretty comprehensive!

No one is better to talk about International Medical Graduates, than an IMG himself. That's what the author of this book Keshav Chander does. He takes us a on a step by step path towards a successful process to gain a US medical residency. Everything gets covered here under the highlight od simple, easy to read English that makes all teh complicated stuff, much, much easier. The book starts of with the simple, run of the mill introduction to every aspect of the medical education process in the US, covering all the USMLE Steps 1, 2 and 3. Chander also explains the mandatory CSA and the walk-in-the-park TOEFL. I admit, you can get better books that explains these exams, but the author provides with a good overview and does not delve deep into details. After that, the book starts getting interesting with the Residency process. Everything major is covered here. From the application through ERAS, to the interview, to the match with NRMP and finally the application process. He even goes at it by explaining how life is in the US and what are the necessary steps to get a social security number, a house and even commuting from the hospital to home. A lot of important, but sometimes overlooked details are mentioned here that make an important part of the application process and the setting in to a different and at times intimidating environment. This book is every IMG's dream come true, with easy to understand language and clear headlines. Highly recommended for those planning to go into the gruesome task of applying to the US.
