5.0 out of 5 stars Great Item
Cant comment on the customer service since I didn't have any problems with my order, shipping was fast and efficient, it was well packaged (I guess they stepped it up). Great item for the price and can easily compare with the more expensive brands out there.

1.0 out of 5 stars junk
did not work when I bought it, had to pay $85 to ship back. The company has an office near by but you can't return items at that location. Customer service is very rude warranty does not allow for repairs, parts only not labor.

1.0 out of 5 stars so badly beaten during shipping i can't tell if it started out as junk or not, February 3, 2010

the factory box had no padding or protection of any kind, then amazon put it in an oversized flimsy box with no padding or protection of any kind.the box had no "fragile" or "handle with care" stickers or other indicators on it.somehow it was misdelivered,so by the time i got it, it had been beaten so badly that the gas cap pump handle and rewind cord guide were broken. there is a big gouge in the side and the eco throttle switch doesn't work. (it only runs at the lower gas saver speed)i had trouble starting it so i pulled the sparkplug and found it discolored and the top of the piston seemed much more carboned up than a factory test run should have done.did i buy a refurbished unit? i'll never know whether this was a good generator or not.it isn't now and amazon won't allow me to return it. i am extremely disappointed in amazon.

1.0 out of 5 stars Junk. Don't waste anything on this company. Time or Money., October 7, 2009
This review is from: ETQ IN1800I 1,800 Watt 3.4 HP 4-Stroke OHV Portable Digital Inverter Generator (Lawn & Patio)
Not only did I return one ($45).

Not only did I return the "tested" in1800 ($45).

Not only I am guilty of actually returning the returned to recieve another "tested" IN1800 ($45), I just had another shipped to me this very day.

I have witnessed one run and it was quiet and produced electricity, but the money I spent transferring junk for more junk would have been better spent purchasing a known, US-made product.

3.0 out of 5 stars First year problems and NOISY!, August 20, 2010

I've had this generator for just over a year now and used it less than 10 times. I wanted to wait to review it until I had it for a while. It has always been extremely noisy. I mean really loud! Kind of a loud, tinny sound. My Yamaha generator sounded like a purring kitten compared to this unit. Another thing that bothers me is when it overloads, you can't reset it while it is running. You have to shut it down and restart it to reset it. It would be nice if the "reset" button actually worked! Maybe they all work this way...I don't know. I tried it just after the one year warranty ended and it ran for a few minutes, then died. I checked the oil and it was full of gas! I drained the oil, put new oil in and ran it again. Same problem. I did this three times and finally emailed ETC. That was a joke. It took over a week to answer my email and that didn't even have any advice other than to take it 120 miles away to get it serviced! I decided to look at it myself. The first thing I did is drain the gas. It looked nasty! The gas was a year old in it and I could tell it was bad. That could have been the whole problem. Why the gas got into the oil though is beyond me. I then took the whole thing apart and cleaned the carburetor, fuel pump and whatever else looked oily. I managed to get it put back together, put fresh gas in it and fired it up. This time it worked flawlessly, or at least for as long as I ran it (about 30 minutes). I realize now that I should have drained the gas out of it and let it run until it stopped to get the gas out of the carburetor and that was my fault. The manual says to drain the gas and oil and then let it run out if you are not going to use it often. I will do that from now on but I don't understand the "drain the oil" tip at all. I never drained the oil on my Yamaha and when I sold it, it was over 30 years old and still running strong! It gets three stars not because of possibly my not draining the gas as suggested problem but because of the noise and it is LOUD!

4.0 out of 5 stars IN1800i review, August 31, 2011

I got this in spite of bad reviews because I sorely wanted one to get through a protracted black out after Irene. It was almost the only 1 I could get delivered the next day. Well, after 1 day, I'm relieved. It's a solid unit, and simple. Yes, it's loud, but not as loud as my neighbors' machines (except one little unit). It has a small gas tank, so can't run that long--maybe 4-5 hours at the most with a light load. My only beef is that you can't see how much is left to go as you fill the tank, which means overflowing is common and too easy. I can run a small fridge, a computer setup and a plasma TV--but that's working it hard. Still, it's quite inexpensive and does what it needs to. BTW, the manual is about half useless, but it is a HOOT! Gotta love those language barriers. TIP: Some folks complain about starting these things, but when you first start any engine (especially brand new) you need to prime it. So, when you first get it set up, pull the cord gently about 5-10 times to prime it (without trying to get it running). Then, when you pull quick and hard to start it, it will jump right into action.

Junk! Noisy, used less than 1 year of occasional use and just stopped running. Took to repair place they said valve problem. Repair shop said should not have wasted your money on one of these.
