The Blood of Ontar Will Rise Again.

Every action has consequences. Some change everything for the good. Others can get you killed. The worst kind can get people you love killed instead.
Thaniel wasn't looking for enemies. He never meant to hurt anyone. But he wasn't the type to do nothing while the innocent got hurt. So when he saw the terror in his girl's eyes and a soldier chasing her, he couldn't just stand there.
As a slave, he surely wasn't trying to attract the attention of the Ontar either. Why would he want to awaken any kind of magic that can be used to Call monsters down out of the sky? Who would actually be that stupid?
But he did...
As the whirlwind of consequence gains intensity and the people he loves the most are swept into the tumult, it's up to Thaniel to find a way to save his loved ones. Join Thaniel and friends on an epic adventure as he discovers that monsters are not just born...

Sometimes, they are Inborn

About the Author

J. Lawrence is just a regular guy who loves a great story. It doesn't matter to him whether it is a novel, movie, or told by a bard with a funny hat.(Which is kind of how he sees himself as a writer.) He married his highschool sweetheart at seventeen and is fiercely proud of his four wonderful children. His stories are rousing epic adventures that are filled with characters who are as flawed as he is. Be prepared. At the foot of the bard, you might find yourself cheering, laughing, fretting, and even misty-eyed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!! May 29, 2012

Even though I am not an avid Sci-Fi reader this book is definitely a must read for anyone who loves to read. It definitely keeps you intrigued throughout the whole book and makes you want to know what happens to every character in the book. J. Lawrence develops each character and has created his own mystery surrounding each character's inborn abilities. Can't wait for book #2 to find out what happens next!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great quick read October 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and well written, and the characters were well defined and believable, with many twists and turns. There were even a few 'adult' jokes. I particularly enjoyed the range of characterizations, from a serial killer, a power hungry leader, a wizard, a monster, a stupid girl, and a few others. The writer managed to do so well that it was easy to "suspend belief" and just enjoy it. There is no heavy theme or complicated unfolding of the plot, just fun reading.
The overall story line is far from unique. The protagonist, Thaniel, is a boy with powerful magic but without any understanding of it. Various forces seek to use him and he has to work his way through them to find the truth. We know he will eventually succeed and have the girl, if not in this first novel but in a sequel. In a sense, it is a coming of age novel. Purchase this and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow. Just wow!!!!! October 2, 2012

I can not rember the last time I have enjoyed a fantasy book more. Since i have been reading fantasy for over 30 years that is a tribute to the author.

I thoroughly enjoyed the world, the characters, the plot twists, and action. Buy the book if you like fantasy coming of age stories. While the theme is similar to other coming of age tales, the craft and execution set it apart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than I expected. April 9, 2015
By Mama
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
4.5 - 5

Well, I didn't expect that! MUCH better than I expected. I don't know what I expected, but this book drew me in, and I enjoyed it.

Fantasy, intrigue, Mystery.
Magic, fight scenes, brutal fighting. Good, Evil.

Interesting magic system that has only been touched on a bit. A world created with more than just humans, a world that can be built upon for more exciting stories.

P.S. Dra = Dragon (Or like Dragon) It took me a while to figure it...why? I don't know, it just didn't click. Duh)
Maybe a few other places with sentence structure for editing. I only had to re-read a few places to figure out what was going on because either I misread it, or if the sentence was re-worded it would have made more sense. But overall really good editing, better than a lot of the recent books I have read, and it was a quick, easy read.

I am looking forward to reading book 2.

3.0 out of 5 stars I expected more, but it was o.k. November 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The author does a fair job setting the stage for a follow up book. To that point, my hope is that the next book would provide more details on the characters. The character development was weak. Plots were developed and left hanging and incomplete. To me, this made the story disjointed and it did not flow. I found it strange that scenes describing the death of innocents were detailed while the villains just - died. Well, that's an overstatement; however, to have the retribution on the rapist villain be so quick and simple seemed unjust. That's probably more my issue with what I would like to have seen than a problem with the book. On the other hand, is the the villain really dead? After all, he has been enhanced with the blood of the "Dra"?! What makes the book interesting is the anticipation of the potential of the protagonist Thaniel (aka "the caller") and the unfolding of the story in general. The story is somewhat reminiscent of "The Name of the Wind" (Patrick Rothfuss) but not up to that standard. I'm holding out hope that the author can take it to that level of excellence, both in style and content.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Brilliant Thrill-ride! March 14, 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was such a awesome book! The characters are intriguing and well developed. The magic systems are unique and interesting, and though I would have liked to learn more details on how they operate, the unknown keeps me itching to read the second book. Well planned, that was. The antagonists are well poised to carry on the story as well.

Well done Mr. Lawrence!

More About the Author

I am not a normal man. I am not crazy. Or dangerous. I live a very normal life, one that is filled with love and happiness, surrounded by a wonderfully supportive family. Yet, they have all come to accept the same truth, as I have.

Arth started summoning me long ago, when I was but a young boy, pulling me out of this world and transporting me there. Like some mental tag along, I found myself riding inside the minds of others, a captive that saw what they did, felt what they touched, and bled when... I have taken a thousand last breaths. Loved and lost myriads. I have seen, killed, and lived as monsters. I have drowned and held others under. I have soared above the clouds on my own wings more times than I can count.

I know what you are thinking. I am not mad. The only difference between us is that, for whatever reason, Arth chose me.

So, I hereby confess that I am not the author of the Sagas of Di'Ghon. In truth, I am nothing more than a simple scribe. I just write down what I see. I wouldn't dream of changing it. They deserve more than that. Somehow, I feel as if it would be like scratching out the names from a tombstone.

If you read this, know that I cannot and will not apologize for the life, actions, or the death of these characters. It is what it is. The truth as I experience it.

My psychologist insisted that the Sagas are all just fanciful tales invented to soften the very real trauma of my childhood. What an idiot... I fired that fool the moment I knew the truth. If he only knew what I do - about the map - he would have known why their story has to be told.

I promise you that when the time is right, I will tell you all I know. For now, just open your minds and read the account of their lives for yourself. See them, hear them, feel them, love them, or hate them. Whatever... Just keep reading. In time you will know, as I do without a shadow of a doubt, that the Sagas of Di'Ghon are real. Arth does exist.

The truth is ... that I can't wait for them to come and take me there again.

I must know how the story ends.
