I was a bit worried about this being one long advertisement. Instead it has excellent tips that apply to any router or router table. The lining with leather technique is almost worth the price of the book and would work with any soft flexible material, e.g. cloth, plastic, rubber....

The projects can be done with any good router table and a micro adjustable fence. The Freud would be a good example. Some of the projects use a table saw but they can be done as well with a good band saw or in a pinch with a scroll saw, jig saw or Japanese stile hand saw. One sticky thing is the use of laminates decoratively; that really requires cutting thin strips and a band saw with a resaw blade is handy (although you can use a table saw or the festool with the guide rails and extension) as well as a thickness plainer (a good hand plane would work as well). The projects all look impressive without requiring any exotic tools. One project, the business card case, really cries out for a drill press, this is one place where the book falls down as it references a "Wood Hinge Manual" (which apparently doesn't exist) for instructions. There are suggestions for variations on the projects which are good as well.

Some of the projects are pretty fussy but they are pretty impressive by and large. The dovetail variants are interesting as well as flashy. IMHO most dovetail projects are done more for the "Look how good I am, I made dovetails!" than as a matter of practical joinery.

Having just purchased the Incra LS positioner system for my router table, I needed some initial small projects to practice on...this book is fabulous, easy to read and understand... gives detailed instructions making it easy to learn the techniques required to advance to more intricate projects. I would recommend it to anyone who has an Incra LS positioner system...or who is looking to purchase one. A great way to get started with a great tool..

I have the Incra router table and wonder fence system. I bought this to get familiar with the different types of joints and different boxes you can make. It is very nice, I'm impressed!!!! Incra is the best as far as I'm concerned.

The book is pretty nice to use. I am making one of the projects now. Not a lot of projects in it really, but explains a lot of techniques really well.

This book is loaded with lots of techniques from lining boxes with leather, to cutting small rabbits and dadoes in thin quarter inch pieces safely. There is setups and explanations for stop grooves, and detailed instructions on double, double dovetail techniques. I'm sure I would have ruined a number of boxes before perfecting the intricate double, double dovetail joints for example.

The projects will help you perfect your technique, and are very impressive by their own right, and make nice gifts. The little playing card box for example is a good one to get people started, and is really a very beautiful box completed. It challenges your skills being so small, but also won't break the bank if you screw up and have to try again.

Overall, a great book, written by a skilled craftsman. Nicely illustrated throughout. Would be nice to see more color examples, but understand they have to save cost too. Well worth the purchase price regardless.

I've been super impressed with Incra products and customer service. Seems like everything they make is top notch, and customer service has been outstanding.
