Book Description

Javed Khan, a tough and seasoned homicide detective, was the best cop in New Delhi before being demoted to the Metro Division—but once again he’s on the trail of a cold-hearted killer. He doesn’t know if the murderer is a psychopath, a serial killer, or a self-styled vigilante—all Khan knows is that he is going to catch the killer and bring him to justice. The city is on edge as the death toll rises. The police brass want the killer caught—or better yet, shot on sight. Something must be done and soon.

Doctor Indira Birwana, “Indie” to her friend, is a brilliant and beautiful doctor, who has worked hard to make her family proud. She returned home from the states for her father’s funeral and becomes fiercely protective of her precious younger sister, who has fallen in love with the boy next door. Indie’s joy turns to ashes when her sister and her fiancé are victims of a heinous crime. Indie’s heart is broken. But not her spirit.

Javed questions everyone involved in the deaths but his only lead to the killer is Indie. Soon, Javed finds himself drawn to her like no other woman. But duty and passion collide as the powder keg of angry citizens and violence is poised to explode as Javed’s search for the killer tightens. His own dark past collides with his sense of duty and law as the search movers closer and closer to finding the killer. Now Javed and Indie are both running out of time and must make a decision… before one of them dies...

4.0 out of 5 stars Come a Long Way September 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The author is maturing; this book holds the interest of a reader and is a hard book to put down. As many good authors do, so does this author, as he reveals a long term problem existing in Indie. I investigated the reasoning behind the premises of India and found to my horror the reality of plot. This, then gave me satisfaction with Indie's success.

Recent accounts coming out of India reveals the truth contained in this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timely Reading September 14, 2013
By John P
Format:Kindle Edition
Great reading and very timely since a gang has recently been convicted in India. Bryan must have done a great deal of research to create such a timely book.
I certainly recommend reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two words: Read it. September 11, 2013

Action-packed. Haunting. Gripping.

Mooney managed to write a novel that is not only enjoyable to read but educational. Eve teasing? What is that? Yes, I asked myself the same thing. Upon researching the term I was appalled at my findings. I feel like I have read a great book and also taken away knowledge at the same time which is not always the case. This story was so well-written and interesting that I cannot get it out of my head. I WOULD and I WILL recommend this book to all types of readers. This is not a book to pass by.

Indie, a Female Vigilante, was an eye-opener for me. I immediately had to rush to the computer to read about "Eve Teasing," and was appalled at what I found. For that reason alone, this book ought to be on everyone's reading list.
The story is haunting: Dr. Indie Birwana travels to her home country of India for her father's funeral. While there, her beloved sister is brutally raped, like thousands of other women today in India. Unlike many of the others, this attack was so violent that it spurred an uprising in the country (I assume the uprising is fictional, even though the violence is not.) Indie is caught up in the aftermath of the violence, as is Javed Khan, a "bus cop," as they try to find justice for the victims.
The plot--though a little heavy-handed at times--is excellent, and this is definitely a page-turner. It gets a little graphic at times, but since women today are suffering such liberties and abuses, it seems totally appropriate. My only complaint was that sometimes there was just too much exposition and repetition, and a few quirks with the timeline.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ! September 3, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
There are many reasons to read books - a few among them are escape, entertainment, and education. I have read all three of Bryan's previous books and they fall into the escape and entertainment categories beautifully. INDIE educates by bringing to light atrocities being perpetrated on the female population in India at the present time. While the book is fiction, similar stories are in the news all too often. The book is not easy to read because of the subject matter and I am sure was not easy to write either. But, it certainly was instrumental in raising awareness for me and I am sure it will do so for others. Kudos to Bryan for taking on a horrific topic while presenting characters that we admire and cheer for.

4.0 out of 5 stars Vigilante justice in the spirit of The Brave One September 14, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I found Indie to be a fast-paced thriller with a familiar theme. Bryan did an excellent job establishing the stage in India and built an excellent connection to his heroine. Although graphic in the description of assaults and medical procedures, it serves to announce to the world the realities many real people are facing.

I had no idea about the problem of rape in its manifestation of "eve teasing" in India. The author novelized the truth

4.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read June 21, 2014
By Snazzy

As I read the book I couldn't help but think that it was inspired by a true news event that shook the world. The author weaves an interesting twist of vengeance that scares rapists. A compelling story that offers insight into the common occurrence of "Eve teasing".
