Book Description

Newly Revised "PERDITION'S GATE" + Newly Released "INFERNO" (OMNIBUS EDITION!)

PERDITION'S GATE: With the world in chaos, a powerful, charismatic leader, Oliver Theed, rises to lead the nations into a New World Order of his own sinister design. But those rising to power in his wings have their own plans and Theed may be the next target in a deadly cat and mouse game deciding the fate of the world.
As the leader of Babylon’s most elite special ops team, Jason Night, codename: Nightstalker, never thought he would desire to leave the life he’s always known. Nor could he foresee the dangerous secret leading to the deaths of the Babylon agents closest to him.
As Jason questions all that he’s ever believed, he seeks answers and revenge. But what he finds will shake him to the core and bring him face to face with Theed, Babylon and a coming Apocalypse that cannot be avoided.

INFERNO: Jerusalem is in turmoil as the recently killed Witnesses rise from the dead, ascending into the sky on a pillar of cloud, while a massive earthquake kills thousands. Oliver Theed works feverishly to hold his followers together while unleashing his demon-controlled army of two hundred million clones an unsuspecting world.
Meanwhile, Jason Night, Chloe and Solomon Gauge are trying to survive increased persecution as Wraith bears down upon them hoping to kill his old nemesis and everyone he cares about.

“James Somers is one of my favorite authors. His pacing, creativity and the unique spiritual perspective he brings to his stories never disappoints.” – Jeremy Robinson, author of PULSE and INSTINCT.

Twists abound in this fast-paced tale of intrigue and treachery, redemption and love. Don't plan on setting it down once you begin. Tapping my impatient fingers; awaiting the release of the sequel "The Wraith Dancers." -- Bruce Judisch, author of Katia & The Journey Begun

"The Realm Shift's intrigue is second only to its action!" -- Wayne Thomas Batson, author, The Berinfell Prophecies and The Door Within Trilogy.

"The Realm Shift doesn't just draw you in, it sucks you in! The story is full of mystery, adventure, danger and inspiration. I highly recommend it!" -- Brian Tubbs, Pastor, Sligo Baptist Church.

"The Realm Shift is written in a grand mythic type of storytelling reminiscent of Tolkien's Lord of the Ring Trilogy. It grabs the reader from the get-go and takes you on an intense ride through its thrilling, unstoppable trajectory!" -- Rai Aren, author, The Secret Sands.

"The Realm Shift is spiritual warfare as you've never read it before. An awesome book!" -- Betty Dravis, author, Toonies Invade Silicon Valley and 1106 Grand Boulevard.

" intense, action packed sci-fi story with a heart. A gripping story, not to be missed!"—Jeremy Robinson, Bestselling Author of: PULSE, INSTINCT & BENEATH

“Sparks of Creative Genius: Somers' strength is plotting. No bog down scenes here. It just keeps amping. Wait until you meet the cyborg assasin Vale. He alone adds a rogue suspense mechanism worth the price of admission. The Vorn, the Barudii, the transdimensional rift--all very cool elements. A Story Worth Hearing!”—Wayne Thomas Batson, Bestselling Author of: The Door Within Trilogy, Isle of Fire & The Berinfell Prophecies

“Everything an action sci-fi fan could ask for: Full of battle. From the opening scene I was captivated. Woven into the action are moral dilemmas and tragedy, coupled with a unique perspective on the battle between good and evil. An excellent read.”—Craig Alexander

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK January 9, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Great Book! It is a science fiction with some mix of future prophesy from the Bible. You would like to finish in one sitting. I bought this book sometime ago but since I dont know James Somers, I had it in sitting my kindle, I started reading it over the holiday and I realized that it was a very good book and I could not put it down.
The development of the story is very good, suspense but not too slow.

I will definitely buy more of James book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Action June 15, 2009
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It is an end-times saga, but reads more like a spy thriller. I both enjoyed reading the book, and approved of the limitted scriptural interpretation.
This was my first James Somers book; now I will go buy the rest of them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Perdition's Gate: Readers' Hell March 28, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This novel somehow found its way into print without benefit of an edit. Don't let that deter you, although overflowing with grammatical mistakes and punctuation errors, Perdition's Gate has a refreshing absence of plot. It seems to have been written by a committee of bored Bible college sophomores on hallucinogenic mushrooms. Yikes, Amazon, what were you thinking to offer this for sale?

4.0 out of 5 stars The End Times ala Hollywood February 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Any book with an 'End Times' theme will inevitably be compared with the Left Behind series. I recently read LB book 1, and I have to say I'm impressed with Somers' originality with Inferno's plot. It takes place much later than other books in the genre, for instance, and technology yet to be developed figures prominently in the story.

For the first 50 pages or so it appeared to me that the author was an outsider, a non-Christian, who found the Christian end times prophecies intriguing and worth entertaining as an exercise in creativity, not to be confused with advocacy or belief.

The emphasis on action and spy-thriller trappings bothered me a bit, but I have to give props for creativity, good characters, and a plot that supplies context for the fulfillment of the requisite end time prophecies. The dialogue includes some brief but well conceived discussions on a number of Christian themes. I also appreciate his nod to Asimov, sci-fi nerd that I am.

I docked a star for the above-mentioned spy thriller violence/emphasis and for too many usage, grammatical, and other mechanical issues.

1.0 out of 5 stars There's a couple bucks I'll never see again... July 15, 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I could live with the poor editing. But the shallow, utterly unconvincing apologetics and stilted writing made this a true waste of money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money and don't waste your time June 2, 2010
By Michael
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is writing at its worst and I finally gave up halfway through the book. I kept hanging in there until I felt I had enough trying to overlook the inexcusable grammatical errors and razor thin plodding plot. In one chapter alone, the author uses the word "there", when the possessive "their" is called for. He makes this mistake more than once. Other style and grammatical errors abound.

How this book made the cut without apparent proofreading is beyond me. Don't waste your time with this loser. "A World Within" by Mr. Somers is a much better read, though it leaves you hanging for the sequel.

4.0 out of 5 stars More than expected! December 26, 2012
By Kirsten
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the first war book I have ever read and I to say I enjoyed it. My favorite was having the references so I could read more information on what is going on.
I will say the reason it got a four and not a five may be due to my ignorance. This is the first time I read a book like this so it seemed a little harder to stay intrigued than I normally do.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good February 28, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love the writing in this one, the characters are good. The clones are getting old. And as I said in my review of Hallowed, When is Jesus taking center stage, He is the main reason we look to Christian authors for more, We want Him glorified, not just His vessels. Jesus needs more credit, and man less..
