5.0 out of 5 stars Strategy Guide is a must for this game
I was able to get the Infinite Undiscovery game for $10. I noticed that Amazon had the strategy guide for $13 so I purchased it as well. Both the game and strategy guide for roughly $25 was a great deal in my opinion. I am really glad I purchased this guide because I would have missed so much throughout the game.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so good after all
This is the third, and probably the last bradygames guide I'll ever get. The first one was for Fincal Fantasy X, the second Final Fantasy XII and finally this one. The guides are somehow ok, but they lack in depth info, are plagued with errors (duplicated numbers in indexes, missing items, etc) and always leave important info from the game out. Some stuff is inacurate...

5.0 out of 5 stars Strategy Guide is a must for this game, October 17, 2009

I was able to get the Infinite Undiscovery game for $10. I noticed that Amazon had the strategy guide for $13 so I purchased it as well. Both the game and strategy guide for roughly $25 was a great deal in my opinion. I am really glad I purchased this guide because I would have missed so much throughout the game.

The main items I would have missed involved "private" conversations with other team members, the optional side quests, and the situation bonuses. By having "private" conversations with other party members, you raise their bond with the Hero. You don't always know when or under what special circumstance you need to talk to a particular character. The guide points them out so you are able to maximize those bonds.

I would probably be missing about 50-75% of the side quests for a couple reasons. First, many times you have to connect to a party character in a town to initiate side quests from NPCs. Each character stands in a different location in the town. You must find them first, then "Connect" to them, then find the particular NPC that holds the quest. In addition, the NPC only provides the quest after a certain point in the game (like after you defeat a boss, save a town, etc). To know what NPC to talk to, what character to connect to, and when you can actually obtain the quest is mind boggeling. Second, maybe it is just me, but once I obtained a side quest, I couldn't find any place in the menu (in game) where that quest was listed. I couldn't view what I needed to do, where to go, etc. So if I forgot about what I needed to do, then forget finishing that side quest. The guide lets you know this information so it makes side quests much more manageable.

There are many situation bonuses in the game. For example, beat a boss in under 2 minutes, smash all barricades in a dungeon, etc. If you can do those, you will receive a bonus, such as healing items or extra experience for characters. Some of the situation bonuses also unlock achievements, so it is helpful to have a guide as to the easiest way to help get the situation bonus.

I would highly recommend this guide if you are playing Infinite Discovery. The points above are reason enough to purchase it, but in addition, it also includes maps for every chapter, character spells'/abilities' descriptions, armory, and enemy stats.

This guide provides a very thorough walkthrough. It is well organized and all information is easy to access. The maps detail where treasure chests are and were events will happen. The battle tips are very useful and helped me get most of the situation bonuses that appear frequent throughout the game.

One slight flaw is that the guide focuses on a user playing the normal mode; it really does not leave the HP and MP stats of enemies for those playing on Hard or Infinite mode.

Overall, it was rather helpful in obtaning the achievements for the game and made a quick and easy substitute to the walkthroughs available for free online (such as at Gamefaqs). Using both guides really helps playing the game.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Brady guides I've seen, October 25, 2010
This review is from: INFINITE UNDISCOVERY Signature Series Guide (Bradygames Signature Guides) (Paperback)
For the most part, Bradygames and Prima rush out sub-par guides for a great deal of games that come out, charging close to (if not) 30% of what you already spent on the game for regurgitated information that can easily be found on the internet. Yes, sometimes they come with maps (a trend that sadly has been decreasing as of late), tables, side quests sections, etc. Even so, there's always an abundance of content missing, whether it is from time constraints, not being thorough, or otherwise.

In turn, that is what makes guides like this all the more phenomenal. Infinite Undiscovery is the latest game by Tri-Ace (of Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile fame), and also their first effort on the XBOX 360. Like most TA titles, there are loads of secret items, events, and quests to be found, and thankfully this guide covers 99% of them. Furthermore, there are maps, tables, character bios, some fantastic artwork, a poster, and an achievement section.

All of this has a very clean layout. The organization is top notch, and constant page-flipping is never a necessity. Sitting at a little over 300 pages, the guide is sizable without being needlessly bulky. Overall, I was very pleased with this written effort, and didn't have the usual buyer's remorse I experience when purchasing guides.

Regardless, there are still issues with the guide (whether minor or major is up to you). The extra dungeon section does a fine job of listing the items available and boss fights, but also is curiously lacking maps (which are also unavailable in-game) and any sort of direction as to where the items are located. There are also several items that have very brief windows of opportunity to obtain, often from monsters that you only fight at one section that can't be repeated. Sadly these are glossed over or not mentioned at all, making them very easy to miss.

As far as published guides go, Infinite Undiscovery is far above the norm. It's loaded with thorough information, and contains maps for most areas. The tables and side quest sections are very useful, and the main walkthrough will help most players see the game through to the end. Despite some sparse blemishes, this is a wonderful product that hopefully future guides will copy in form.

The guides are somehow ok, but they lack in depth info, are plagued with errors (duplicated numbers in indexes, missing items, etc) and always leave important info from the game out. Some stuff is inacurate (Like the Secret of smithery final sidequests in this particular guide) or simply missing, some maps are wrong and so on. With such a low quality assurance for the final product, well, I'm quite dissapointed and i think I'll better resort to the fan made guides hosted in game pages or the new and abundant game specific wikies
