The check engine light came on in my honda 95 delsol, I googled on how to read the code and finally used a piece of small wire to read the code. When I saw this item on Amazon, I thought it would be some kind of electronic code reader, so I bought it, to my surprise the kit had a booklet and couple of jumper connectors. You can find all the information on how to read OBD1 coded just by googling. For honda and toyota vehicles you will need a piece of wire! The material value of this product should not be more than $2.00. I bought it for $25 which is completely rip-off. I felt I was an idiot to buy this product!

Except for the book it came with explaining some stuff and about different makes & models thus shedding some more light on the issue, the unit itself has nothing much in it as some other reviewer wrote, you could do what it does with a paper clip or a flat blade screwdriver. I agree..

its a simple product to use. I didnt really need it because you and do the same thing this tool does with a paper clip, just stick a paper clip in both sides of the connector and watch the engine light blink. But nice item comes with a great book that shows all the codes and how to read them. A+ for me

This product can be very helpful - for select vehicles. You have to make sure your vehicle is included. This product works for SOME models of Honda, Acura, Nissan, Infiniti, Toyota, and Lexus. May or may not work on others.

Found exactly the intermittent issue with my 1992 Toyota Corolla using this tool. It was a loose connection.
Highly recommended tool for older imported cars that has OBD1.

Please note that the old OBD 1 is an old system with limited fault reporting.
Go on line for trouble shooting after you have retrieved the fault
You can also trigger the faults with simple jumpers, but you may also damage the computer if you short the wires.
The price of this tool is well worth the price.

This little inexpensive reader is very easy to use. Count the check engine light flashes and look up the code in the code book which is included.
