4.0 out of 5 stars Great Toy But Batteries Are Too Expensive
My boys love playing with their Hexbug Habitat Sets & I must say ... I like watching those robots run around too! However, the batteries are too expensive. Only 2 for $5.00? I found 20 Nano power cells for $10.00 by typing in "20 Hexbug Batteries" on this site ... 20 HEXBUG-Compatible Batteries They worked fine too by the way. I suggest looking around before buying...

1.0 out of 5 stars They are just LR44 batteries
They are just branded LR44s. You can get MUCH cheaper LR44 batteries here on Amazon; there's no need to buy these. Just search for them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money!, October 1, 2011

I purchased these based on the "hexbug" brand name, hoping they would last a longer time than some of the generic batteries I see being sold on Amazon. What a waste of money! Not only were they expensive, but they only lasted a couple days before they started to wear down. I decided to go with another buyer selling 20 batteries for about 20 bucks. These batteries seem to work very well, and for the price, they seem worth it.

Ben never tires of it. It scuttles in a realistic manner across the floor (vinyl, not carpet)realistically and he constantly invents things to do with it.or just leaves it on to seek its own destiny.

It's durable and not particulrly hard on batteries. There is a downside. If the child is too young the tiny toy will probably be lost. And changng the battery will be a problem if you're not up to unscrewing a very small screw (like used in eyeglass frames. There are sets of very small screwdrivers aroun cheaply. Get a set.

It was nice to be able to order replacement batteries so my sister didn't have to go searching for some when the battery wears out. Plus, it's cute that my nephews think they're food.

My grandson loves the hex bugs. They are fascinating to watch. Their batteries appear to last quite a long time. It was easy to order accessories and replacement batteries from Amazon.

These batteries are short lasting (couple of days of regular use of the bugs) and are pricey, but what can you do? Life with kids means life with batteries. Amazon has the best prices generally and saves a trip to the store. Amazon Prime shipping is priceless for any parent.

They are a two pack of batteries for goodness sake!

They have to be fine.

I did notice many other quantities of same size batteries for alot less money.

I would think that they would work just fine for less money.

Haven't tried alternatives yet.

These hexbug batteries were purchased to use if/when the original batteries in the hexbugs die. I cannot rate the durability as I did not open and test the batteries and they are still in the storeage packet.

For Christmas, I bought two the hex bugs, one a crab and the other a beetle. The crab works fine, the beetle would just move one or two legs, but would not work. I bought extra batteries and switched them out to no avail. I had tossed the receipt, so it could not be returned. The family found them "interesting" but not more than that. We were disappointed that the cats found no interest in them. I don't think they are worth the money.
