This is a nice wall mounting patch panel.
Adam P. Layton
The nice thing about this punch-down block is that (unlike some) it shows both A&B wiring schemes.

I will be buying a second one shortly for another project.

The front is the same but the punch downs are different than pictured. It splits the pairs on top and bottom instead of all the pairs punched down in the same row (like in the picture). Blue and Brown punch down on top. Orange and Green punch down on bottom. I would think this creates unneeded stress on the cable since they are split apart like that. It will also make it harder to feed cable in the built in cable management hooks in the back.

This is not what I wanted.

I recently bought this item for patching 9 ethernet lines I ran in my home. I have no complaints about the product thus far, but a few notes. One reviewer noted that the item received was not the same as pictured in terms of how the wires are connected on the back, and that is consistent with my product. In my case this did not bother me, but if it matters to you be aware. Specifically the picture of the item shows all 8 wire mounts per cable being in a row next to each other. On the product I received, like the other reviewer noted, each cable has 4 wires attach on one side and 4 across on the other side. Though I'm a novice at this I can't see how it would have made a difference in organizing the cables for me. Also, make sure to note that if you plan to use the wall mount bracket and you run cables into the middle of the device to access the wire ports near the middle, *you must have the plastic bracket attached before you attach those wires, or run them through it, otherwise you can't attach it! Cables going in from the top or bottom or not a problem, but in the middle the plastic bracket forms a loop. In my case I was able to cut one side of the bracket apart to allow the cables I'd already wired to pass through the bracket. The bracket still attached securely to the wall, the wires seem to punch down very securely and the jacks on the front seem to be well made and function properly.

What can I say, it's a patch panel. I would recommend this product and save your self some money versus the other over priced products. This is in my home network 6 months and never had a problem with it. It comes with color coded wiring diagrams and is easy to install.

I purchased the Intellinet 162470 patch panel for the remodel of my home. I have several Cat 5 runs and wanted to keep them organized. To my dismay, two of the twelve ports were bad when the panel was installed.

I've found that when it comes to cabling, you have to stick with known brands. Otherwise you get unreliable connections, false contacts, and a host of other issues. Intellinet has always proven to be a reliable brand for me. I've purchased several of these from Amazon and have never been disappointed. The unit has clear labelling for 568a and 568b, and plastic cable management rings. I will continue to purchase these from here.

I was hesitant to purchase because of the reviews stating some ports did not work. After punching and testing the ports, all work just fine. In fact, this unit uses the same ports as the 24 port rack mount version which is highly rated. Overall, I would recommend this product. It's sturdy when mounted to the wall and functions properly.

I originally had a bunch of Cat5 drops terminated straight into plugs, and plugged them into the back of my gigabit ethernet switch. This worked fine, but made the setup look a little ugly, and also made changing the network setup a little annoying. I bought this patch panel so I could terminate the existing five rooms, and have some room for future expansion (in the basement and some other rooms).

The patch panel looks great, and has a large mounting bracket that allows all the cables to enter from behind neatly. The punch-down terminals are well-labeled for each jack, and if you have a typical krone-style punchdown tool (Amazon sells one for $5 or so), terminating all the connections is a quick affair.

The panel's metal edges are a little sharp, so make sure you don't snag a corner on your clothing (or your skin!), but other than that, there's really nothing not to like here. The price is great, and it looks and works flawlessly.

This was perfect. Our house had existing CAT5 connections in all the rooms, but it was wired for a telephone system in the master bedroom closet. I swapped it out and punched these wires onto this. Now we have hardwired blazing fast speeds in any room we need it where wireless won't cut it. I was about to mount this in the structured wiring cabinet that our house has and the door still closes.
