Intermediate workout,

This review is from: INTERMEDIATE KETTLEBELLS The Ultimate Fat Burning Workout Vol 2 of the IRON CORE Workout Series (DVD)
This is a follow along -type cardio workout using one kettlebell. The workout consists of three circuits, and the circuits are comprised of rounds of exercise done with 30 seconds of rest between circuits. Every circuit in the workout is different, although they contain the same exercises. The exercises came in different order in each circuit, and they are combined differently in rounds in every circuit. This adds variety to the workout, but on the other hand, it would be clearer if every circuit would be the same. The workout comprises of some basic exercises used in the first workout of the series, and there are some new exercises added.
Between the rounds there is a rest period of 30 seconds. There is a time counter to show how much time the rest period has left. Also, there is some brief instructions on how to perform the exercises used in the next round. There is a separate instructions section in the film, where they teach some of the exercises used in the workout. Not all of the exercises are instructed, however, and they are briefly touched upon before the round starts they are used in. This in turn lengthens the rest period, and can get annoying with repeat use. During the workout, the instructor occasionally forgets to mention how many repetitions each exercise is done in the round. This is somewhat annoying, and as the rep range varies from one exercise to the next, you just cannot guess the number of reps used. In my opinion, this workout is the most demanding of the three films in the series, being suitable for intermediate trainers. This is mostly due to the fact that there are some exercises that are somewhat demanding technically to perform, and there are few somewhat hard exercise combinations in the workout.

Every bit as good as Iron Core Vol 1,

This is a great, professionally produced DVD of kettlebell techniques by Iron Core Fitness. The exercises are demonstrated with detail and an exercise circuit is demonstated with 30 second rests between exercises. The circuit is looped so you can do several circuits without having to "rewind". I own Volume 1 and 2 and it is worth the price. The workout is fantastic.

I was new to Kettlebells when I bought this DVD. The instructions are very clear. I had been advised that one could get hurt using the Kettlebell improperly. If someone is used to working out and following instructions, and wants a toning, stretching and aerobic workout, he/she might enjoy using the kettlebell and this DVD. The same group of exercises is repeated with a 30 second rest between each exercise. Some people may find that monotonous. I like the DVD. After doing it a few times, you can do the exercises on your own.

Great Dvd for novice. This dvd involves 30 sec. breaks between every exercise. The dvd give you step by step moves & she's very precise.

I have another Kettlebell video that I have been very happy with. I was looking for another one to switch things up a little bit. This DVD does not have many features. I also burned about 2/3 the amount of calories that I normally burn during a Kettlebell workout. The workout was not challenging and there were too many breaks to keep my heart-rate up. I would not recommend this DVD.

Great video. I also own Vol. 1 and rotate between them. My only complaint involves the 30 sec. breaks between EVERY exercise. Unless you are a workout novice, this will just annoy you. Now that I have the hang of the moves I just keep the remote by my kettlebell and fast forward between most of the moves...much better workout and saves time!

Nice DVD for those with some kettlebell experience,
This review is from: INTERMEDIATE KETTLEBELLS The Ultimate Fat Burning Workout Vol 2 of the IRON CORE Workout Series (DVD)
I'm a high intermediate exerciser who works out daily, but I'm new to kettlebells. I practiced some basic kettlebell moves with a dumbbell for awhile, but this was one of the first workouts that I used with my new 8 kg (18 lb) kettlebell that I purchased on Amazon (this one: 8kg (18 lb) Vinyl Coated Kettlebell by Kaizen Athletic with DVD).
This DVD features RKC kettlebell instructor Sarah Lurie. It includes a short (1.5 minutes) introduction by Sarah, a 4.5 minute instructional segment (Foundation 2) in which Sarah breaks down some, but not all, of the kettlebell moves found in the workout, and then a 45 minute workout (Circuit 2). For those who have tried Kettlebells The Iron Core Way Volume 1 (Complete Guide to Kettlebell Training with Follow Along Workout), several new and more challenging moves are added here, included snatches, clean & press, and Turkish getups. For the actual workout, Sarah is instructing live with two background exercisers, Robert and Sammy. The warm-up consists of swings, catches, squats, and three Turkish getups per side. (Note: Sarah does not break down the Turkish getup, a fairly tricky move.) The Circuit is conducted in three rounds of individual exercises, with a 30 second break between exercises and a 1-2 minute break between rounds. Prior to each exercise, graphics appear on screen breaking down the move in detail and offering form tips; a countdown clock also keeps track of the breaks. The exercises in each round are basically the same, with some slight variations as noted below: Round 1: *1-arm swings (10) *snatches (8) *clean & press (8) *tactical lunges (10) + 2-arm swings (10) *suitcase deadlift (5) + snatches (5) *deck squats (10) *alternating swings (10) Round 2: *1-arm swings (10) *snatches (8) *clean & press (8) *tactical lunges (10) + 2-arm swings (10) *suitcase deadlift (5) + snatches (5) *deck squats (10) Round 3: *1-arm swings (10) + snatches (10) *clean & press (8) *tactical lunges (10) *suitcase deadlift (5) *snatches (5) *deck squats (10) Abs: *get-up situps (4 per side) *twisting crunches, kettlebell between feet (10) I didn't necessarily find this DVD more intense than Volume 1. However, as someone who is still quite new to kettlebells, I found several of the moves more difficult to execute, particularly the snatches and clean & press, both of which are used frequently here. Furthermore, I didn't think that Sarah's breakdowns of the moves provided quite enough information. Another issue was that during the workout itself, Sarah's pace is a bit too quick for a beginner; although I'm an experienced exerciser, I struggled to keep up with her at times. I do think that this is a good DVD, but those new to kettlebells will probably want to have at least some practice under their belts prior to using it.

This is a good video for a beginner. I prefer something faster paced, with breaks between a set of exercises instead of between every exercise.

I tried some other kettlebell DVDs and I found them to be kind of easy so I decided to try this one (volume 2) based on the reviews I read on Amazon. As I previewed the DVD I rapidly realized that I made a grave error - there is absolutely no way I can do some of the moves in this DVD, that is, without serious injury. This is definitely NOT a good DVD to do if you have ever had any sort of problems with your back or knees. One move essentially has you throwing yourself backwards onto the ground (with kettlebell naturally) and then jumping back up. I am not a senior citizen but I am not in my 20s either and there is absolutely no way I am ever going to even attempt that move. I am donating this DVD to Goodwill!
